Netflix Officially Cancel’s Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ and ‘Jessica Jones’

The moment that every fan of Netflix’s Marvel shows has been dreading has finally arrived. Netflix has officially axed Marvel’s The Punisher and Jessica Jones television series.
The news is something we all should have seen coming considering the wave of cancellations, like Marvel’s Iron First, Luke Cage, and Daredevil, along with Disney’s launch of Disney+ later this year.

Netflix’s Marvel Shows Can’t Appear On Disney+ For Two Years

The wave of Marvel shows being canceled by Netflix was alarming but not surprising, especially since Disney is launching their own streaming service, Disney+, in 2019.
Most believed that Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and presumably The Punisher and Jessica Jones would just migrate over to their new home. Which makes sense. They would join the Scarlet Witch, Loki, Winter Soldier, and Falcon shows that are being launched. However, there is a clause that prevents these shows from appearing on Disney+ until 2020. ‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 Teaser: A Harlem Hero Dares You To Hurt Him

Netflix has released the first teaser for season two of Luke Cage, which also reveals the release date for the new season.

Final ‘The Defenders’ Trailer: The Only Way Out Of Here Is Together

We are just hours away from the premiere of Netflix’s The Defenders, the Marvel superhero ensemble of the streaming service. In the four years since the collaboration started, we’ve seen Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) get their own series.

‘Luke Cage’ Season 2: ‘Kill Bill’ Star Lucy Liu To Direct First Episode

Marvel Television and Netflix have announced that Lucy Liu will be directing the first episode of the upcoming Luke Cage season two.
Liu is best known for her acting work, appearing in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, the Kung Fu Panda movies, Elementary, Ally McBeal, Lucky Number Slevin, Charlie’s Angels, Shanghai Noon and much more. On the directing side of things, she was behind the camera for four episodes of Elementary, an episode of Graceland, and a short titled Meena.

We met Marvel’s Luke Cage (Mike Colter) on Jessica Jones which premiered last year on Netflix, and now he’s got his own series, Luke Cage. He is basically indestructible and possesses super strength. He’s haunted by his past and despite the superpowers, he dabbles in low-level work to keep himself out of trouble. Luke Cage is nicknamed “Mr. Bulletproof†by Pop (Frankie Faison), the owner of the local Harlem barbershop where he works one of his two jobs. The other is washing dishes at a Cotton Club-esque nightclub. Not exactly the best use of his abilities, but he’s an ex-con who can barely afford his rent, and grieves for lost love Reva (Parisa Fitz-Henley), so his ambitions are low right now.
