Westworld

The series premiere of Westworld is less than a week away now already. HBO has released a new video titled “Welcome to Westworld,” in which cast and crew including creators, showrunners, and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, executive producer J.J. Abrams, and stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, and James Marsden discuss the show.

Westworld is set in a future where we’ve gone beyond virtual reality and a place exists where people can live out their every fantasy in the real world. This is made possible by robots—called Hosts in the series—who look, feel, and even think like real human beings.

In addition to the video, a brief new promo has also been released which focuses on the characters Maeve (Newton) and Dolores (Wood). Both of these videos can be viewed below.

Westworld

Last night to coincide with the season finale of The Night Of, HBO released the latest trailer for the sci-fi drama Westworld from executive producers J.J. Abrams and showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Based on the 1973 science fiction western-thriller film written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton, the series is set in the fictional world of Westworld. In Westworld, guests pay to become gunslingers and indulge themselves in all sorts of vices with androids, who rebel against their programming after they become self-aware and realize how they’re being used.

Check out the latest trailer here below.

strong>Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm series, one of the greatest and most enduring horror franchises of them all, has terrified millions of fans around the world and given them an iconic villain to forever haunt their nightmares in the form of the glowering Tall Man, played to perfection by the late Angus Scrimm. The original film, made on a scrappy budget of $300,000 and released to outstanding international box office in 1979, celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2014 with the surprising news that a fifth installment in the series was on its way.

You can watch a teaser trailer for the long-awaited fourth sequel to the original, entitled Phantasm: Ravager, here below.

It’s been three years since we last left Captain James Tiberius Kirk and his young, hip, sexy rebooted USS Enterprise crew sifting through the charred rubble of the embarrassingly-flawed and intelligence-insulting Star Trek Into Darkness. When the first J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek feature was released in 2009, it thrilled me as both a lover of well-executed blockbuster entertainment and someone who has grown up enjoying the adventures of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and company because its creative and commercial success ensured that future generations would have their own Enterprise to follow into the cinematic cosmos. Into Darkness pretty much undid every detectable trace of that progress in the span of a mere two hours.

The thought of the sequels that would inevitably follow filled me with the sort of trepidation one often experiences as they prepare to enter an old house that has been abandoned since the previous owners were horribly murdered twenty years ago….
