| ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ May Not Make 2015 Release
Late Friday night it was confirmed that J.J. Abrams will be directing Star Wars: Episode VII. Jar Jar jokes ensued and some people weren’t too thrilled by the news, but for the most part those sentiments were overshadowed by those by fans expressing excitement, because they know if there is a geek director who could bring back a movie franchise from the pits, it would have to be a man like Abrams. Obviously such a signing would complicate things over at Paramount, the studio that holds the rights to Star Trek. But that same day it was confirmed that Abrams would still be involved with Star Trek III in a producer capacity. It was also confirmed that he would be producing the next Mission: Impossible film, clearing his schedule for Star Wars: Episode VII. But THR has word now that he might not be able to make the 2015 deadline for the new Star Wars film.

Abrams had been chosen to direct Star Wars: Episode VII after a lengthy period of fan speculation and wish listing. Disney, who sent out a press release to the masses, has now confirmed Abrams’ involvement in the juggernaut movie project, making it all very much official. | J.J. Abrams Still On Board To Produce ‘Star Trek III’
Having just been signed on to direct Star Wars Episode VII yesterday, Paramount Pictures announced yesterday that J.J. Abrams will remain a part of the Star Trek universe by confirming that he will stay on as producer for Star Trek III, according to the LA Times. The report also says that he is on board as producer for Mission: Impossible V. The announcement pretty much confirms that Abrams won’t be back to direct Star Trek III. Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore said, “J.J. will continue to develop projects for us including a new “˜Mission: Impossible,’ and he is committed to produce another “˜Star Trek.'”
