Hugh Jackman and Levi Miller in Pan

The first images from Pan, the upcoming Peter Pan origins movie being directed by Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Hanna), have found their way online.

The images offer us our first peek at star Hugh Jackman, who’s set to play the dreaded pirate Blackbeard, in full costume. The Peter Pan villain everyone is most familiar with, Hook, is also in the movie (played by Garrett Hedlund), though back before he was a bad guy when he was more of a “dashing Indiana Jones-like figure.”

You can check out the first images from the movie including Jackman as Blackbeard below.

Batman vs Superman

Summer 2015 just lost one of its biggest tickets. The Man of Steel sequel we all insist on referring to as Batman vs. Superman (even though that will probably not be its final name) has been moved out of its original July 17, 2015 release date and rescheduled for May 2016.

The surprising move may or may not have anything to do with star Ben Affleck recently suffering a leg injury that threatened to delay the start of filming for six weeks. However, Warner Bros. insists that the release shift has more to do with the need of director Zack Snyder to get the script in some kind of fighting shape, “allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”

Release Date: November 30, 2012

“Rummaging in our souls, we often dig up something that ought to have lain there unnoticed.”Tolstoy

Baz Luhrmann meets Terrance Malick in this excruciatingly exquisite adaptation of Leo Tolstoy‘s 19th century novel, Anna Karenina.

Directed Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice), with a script by famed British playwright Tom Stoppard, the film details the tragedy of married aristocrat and socialite Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) and her affair with the affluent Count Vronsky (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

A charming, well-off bachelor, Vronsky pursues Anna, asking her to leave her husband Karenin (Jude Law), a high-ranking government official. Unhappy with the lack of love in her marriage, Anna flirts and dances with Vronsky in public, leaving her vulnerable to the scrutiny of her peers. A passionate affair ensues, and the private matters of Anna Karenina are soon put on stage before all of Russian high-society.

There have been more than fifteen feature films titled Anna Karenina, and that doesn’t even include the made-for-television versions. What makes Joe Wright’s adaptation different is the cinematic vocabulary used to bring Tolstoy’s classic novel to life. Wright’s rhythmic, dreamlike direction turns Anna Karenina into a stage play within the colossal theatre of Russian society.
