Fox owns a few Marvel properties, two of which will be getting rebooted in the near future.

Josh Trank‘s success with Chronicle has put him on the top of the list of possible directors to helm the new Fantastic Four movie, and David Slade was tapped to direct the new Daredevil movie.

Now, as the San Diego Comic-Con officially opens its doors, it’s being reported that Trank has signed on to direct the reboot based on four fantastical heroes, while Slade is taking himself out of the Daredevil reboot.

We’ve heard rumblings of a movie based on the beloved boss fights-only PlayStation 2 game, Shadow of the Colossus, in the past. It’s been three years since the last time, which was only news that Sony was developing the project with Justin Marks writing a script.

That attempt clearly didn’t transpire quite as well as hoped, and now another shot at turning Colossus into a movie is underway. It’s being reported that the increasingly popular Josh Trank has been grabbed by Sony to develop the movie, which he will also direct if/when it ever gets the greenlight to go into production. He’ll also be finding a new writer to work with on a new script.

We’ve been hearing about a possible spinoff movie based on the Spider-Man villain Venom for a long, long while now, and now the project looks to have a brand new director in line to make it a reality.

It’s being reported that Josh Trank, the director behind the low-budget found footage hit, Chronicle, has entered into negotiations to direct Venom for Sony Pictures, who are preparing to release their reboot of the Spider-Man franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man.

If so, that apparently would be news to him.

A while back, rumor had it that following screenings of his new film, the found footage-ish superhero film, Chronicle, Fox tapped director Josh Trank to be the number one contender for the directorial gig currently up for grabs behind the long talked about Fantastic Four reboot.

Well, according to SuperHeroHype, Trank reveals that that is far from the case.

If you’ve not yet heard about Chronicle, it’s because it’s a movie that has been flying under the radar a bit and only recently have TV spots started showing up more and more often. The movie’s trailer first showed up when Paranormal Activity 3 was released, and it too is presented as “found footage” of three friends who obtain superpowers and go through the ups and downs having such great new abilities.

Twentieth Century Fox is very big on Chronicle, and hopes it will do great things at the box office. So much so that sources close to the studio say that the movie’s director, Josh Trank, is their current top choice to take on rebooting their more tradition superhero franchise, Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
