| D23 Expo 2015: ‘Doctor Strange’ Early Look Expands MCU |
|
It will be exciting to see how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will progress after Phase II. With Guardians of the Galaxy taking us to galaxies unknown, and Ant-Man introducing us to the quantum realm, what sort of dimensions could we expect to see in Phase 3? Well, Doctor Strange will attempt to give us a look at what’s to come. Marvel President Kevin Feige MC’d the Marvel panel at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA, on Saturday and offered attendees a look at the film, which came in the form of concept art from Marvel’s art department. This is because director Scott Derrickson hasn’t shot anything yet, as filming is scheduled to begin this November. As he would explain, these concept art pieces aren’t revealed to the public this early during the pre-production process, and came straight from the vaults of the Marvel Art Department. As the photos started to be displayed, we clearly see that Doctor Strange will truly be Marvel’s Fantasia (as previously revealed). More on what we saw at the D23 Expo here below.

| Marvel Hires Writers To Pen Adaptation Of Stan Lee’s ‘Dr. Strange’
A movie adaptation of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko‘s 1963 comic book Dr. Strange has been in and out of development hell for years now, with many different studios and talents being attached and detached from the project along the way. It appears now another attempt at the movie is on the way with the announcement that Marvel Studios has gone out and hired Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to write a script. The duo recently worked on the script for Marcus Nispel’s Conan reboot, as well as a script for an adaptation of the video game Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and a draft of Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens, which went on to the hands of Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof.

| Sony Puts The Rush Job On ‘Uncharted’ Movie; Hires New Writers |
|
As any video game player knows, the Sony Playstation 3 exclusive title Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is one of the more popular titles to be released in the past few years, and that popularity has seemingly doubled with the recent release of the mega-hit sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. As we all fully expected, it was announced back in June that a movie adaptation was in the works, and that Kyle Ward had been tapped to pen the screenplay (Read: Kyle Ward Snags Another Gig; Tapped To Write “˜Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ Adaptation). Now comes word that this initial set-up did not work out so well and a brand new plan is in motion. Latino Review has it on good authority that Mr. Ward is contractually obligated to write the script for another video game adaptation in Hitman 2, and that it would be at least a year before he could get to Uncharted. Instead of waiting for this — a project that they’re itching to get moving immediately — Sony has instead gone out and hired Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to write the script.
