| ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ Star David Dastmalchian Joins Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’
Frank Herbert‘s sci-fi epic Dune is being adapted for the big screen once again. The film, which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, is a sprawling epic featuring a large number of characters that are part of royal families competing over a valuable planetary resource. In the film, one of the noble families is betrayed and it is up to one of the dutiful royal sons to lead a rebellion that will help restore his family’s claim. But this won’t be just another sci-fi film adaptation, as the film will explore themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature. We know that Villeneuve has assembled quite a cast to appear in this possible two-part epic. And now, another actor has joined the fray. | Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin Latest To Join Crazy ‘Dune’ Cast
It’s starting to look like everyone wants to be a part of Denis Villeneuve‘s adaptation of Dune. The film, which will be based on Frank Herbert‘s novel of the same name, stars Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides. He will be joined by Charlotte Rampling, Dave Bautista, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Stellan Skarsgard. And now you can add Aquaman and Thanos into the mix. Reports confirm that Jason Momoa and Josh Brolin are both in talks to have roles in Villeneuve’s film adaptation of the sci-fi epic. More on the report below.

| ‘The Mummy’ Director Talks Other Dark Universe Movies Being Planned |

This weekend, Universal will launch the start of their brand new Dark Universe monsters franchise with a reboot of The Mummy. Directed by Alex Kurtzman, the film will bring together some of our favorite classic monsters in an all new shared universe involving Universal Monsters. It will be followed up by the Bill Condon-directed Bride of Frankenstein, starring Javier Bardem; Creature of the Black Lagoon from screenwriters Jeff Pinkner and Will Beall; The Invisible Man, starring Johnny Depp; and Van Helsing, from Prometheus scribe Jon Spaihts, Arrival writer Eric Heisserer, and Dan Mazeau. But that is just the beginning. Because Kurtzman says there are more Dark Universe films on the way. In a new interview, the man responsible for building this new Universal Monsters shared universe says Dracula, Frankenstein, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Phantom of the Opera are being developed. | ‘Pacific Rim 2’ Starts Filming This November; Jing Tian Joins The Cast
Though Pacific Rim was a bit underwhelming in the U.S, where it grossed $101 million, but found huge overseas numbers, particularly in China, where it grossed $111 million. Those numbers were just enough to garner a sequel, Pacific Rim 2, that will be directed by Steven DeKnight. Currently, the film stars John Boyega and Scott Eastwood, and it’s still not clear if anyone from the first film will be returning. While Charlie Hunnam has said he will not be reprising his role in the sequel, Guillermo del Toro that most of the original cast would return. With most the major pieces already in place, it was only a matter of time before Legendary would be announcing a start date for the production. Now the production company can say that Pacific Rim 2 will begin lensing this November, and Chinese actress Jing Tian will be joining the cast. More on the story below.

| Official Trailer For ‘Passengers’ Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt Released
Sony Pictures Entertainment has released an official trailer for Passengers, an upcoming sci-fi epic starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) and Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World). The movie is set on a giant space ship which is transporting humans to a new home many year away. To make it there alive, everyone is suspended in sleep. But two of the ship’s occupants wake up early. Far too early. Also starring is Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex, Frost/Nixon) along with Oscar nominees Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, What’s Love Got to Do with It) and Andy Garcia (The Godfather Part III, Ocean’s Eleven).
