| ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’: Watch The Final Trailer For Latest MonsterVerse Movie
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the final trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters ahead of its release next month. The movie is the latest in Legendary and WB’s shared cinematic universe called the MonsterVerse, which began with 2014’s Godzilla and continued with 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. In it, the title titan will face off against formidable foes such as Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. | ‘Pacific Rim 2’ Starts Filming This November; Jing Tian Joins The Cast
Though Pacific Rim was a bit underwhelming in the U.S, where it grossed $101 million, but found huge overseas numbers, particularly in China, where it grossed $111 million. Those numbers were just enough to garner a sequel, Pacific Rim 2, that will be directed by Steven DeKnight. Currently, the film stars John Boyega and Scott Eastwood, and it’s still not clear if anyone from the first film will be returning. While Charlie Hunnam has said he will not be reprising his role in the sequel, Guillermo del Toro that most of the original cast would return. With most the major pieces already in place, it was only a matter of time before Legendary would be announcing a start date for the production. Now the production company can say that Pacific Rim 2 will begin lensing this November, and Chinese actress Jing Tian will be joining the cast. More on the story below.

| ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Star John Boyega Joins ‘Pacific Rim 2’
At the start of the year, it was reported that Daredevil season one showrunner and Starz’s Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight would be directing Pacific Rim 2. The first movie, which was released in 2013, was directed by Guillermo del Toro. Now comes word that the movie has found its star. It’s been announced that John Boyega, who was most recently seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has been locked in for the lead role in the sequel. And who is he playing? The son of Idris Elba‘s fan-favorite character.

| ‘Pacific Rim’s International Box Office Returns Increases Chances Of Seeing A Sequel
At first glance, Pacific Rim had very little impact at the box office. In fact it has joined a long line of recent summer box office busts that include films like White House Down, The Lone Ranger, and even The Wolverine. But the international numbers tell a different story. Guillermo del Toro‘s film debuted in China Wednesday and grossed an estimated $9 million at the box office. According to Deadline, that’s a new high for any Warner Brothers release and 23% bigger than for any Harry Potter film. The film also was the number one film in international markets the July 19-21st weekend. With the international numbers speaking volumes, it’s very likely that a sequel to Pacific Rim could happen.
