Marvel has chosen a new writer to work on the screenplay for one of their upcoming hopeful new movie franchises, Doctor Strange.
According to reports, Jon Spaihts has been hired to pen the script. A first draft of the script was written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. Spaihts was the first to work on the screenplay for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus before some other writers go involved in rewrites and polishing and such. His other credits include The Darkest Hour, the upcoming reboots of The Mummy, and the remake of Disney’s The Black Hole. He also wrote 2007 Black List script Passengers, a project that currently has Keanu Reeves attached to it.
Doctor Strange already has a director lined up in Scott Derrickson, who previously directed The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Sinister, and Deliver Us from Evil.
A star to play Strange has not yet been chosen, but the list of potential actors includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, and Jared Leto.
