| ‘Batman: Year One’ Release Details & Box Art |
 |
DC Entertainment provided us with a little more information for the upcoming Batman: Year One animated feature film that is coming in October, and let me tell you, alongside the release of that box art (click the art here at right for larger view) … the details have me really excited.
If you’ve followed our previous news about this upcoming straight to DVD and Blu-ray feature, then you’ve already had a glimpse of what’s to come [see the First Look and trailer], but let me break it down one more time for all the kids in the back. Batman: Year One is an animated adaptation of the classic 1987 Batman comic book series Batman: Year One created by multi-time Eisner Award-winning writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzuchelli. The story redefined Batman’s origins for a new generation and it’s one of the very few post-Crisis of Infinite Earths origin stories to actually stick for a character. And the reason for that is that it’s a simple take on The Batman. Bruce Wayne swears an oath to justice and to protect the people of Gotham City after his parents were viciously murdered. Also, the book is just as much about commissioner Gordon while he was still a lieutenant. It’s a tale of two men seeking justice in a world of corruption. A story of two men crossing paths and finding that they need each other to accomplish their goals. Year One also features a brand new take on the character of Catwoman. Searching for justice in her own way, Selina Kyle takes to the streets as a vigilante who a taste for theft, and after a chance encounter with The Dark Knight, she’s inspired to don a costume of her own. It’s a thrilling crime drama with the best superhero while he is still setting his roots as a crimefighter.

I don’t want to be human! I want to see gamma rays. I want to hear x-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I could know much more. Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is the third prequel movie that has been made within the realms of the brilliant Ronald D. Moore and David Eick re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica. The others were Razor and Caprica (which is more of a spinoff and setup for its own new series set to begin in 2010), and they offer us a deeper look into the many stories that we never saw as we journeyed through the wonderful five-season run. While Razor concentrated on another Battlestar ship and added many details to one of the stories we briefly saw in the series, The Plan is a unique and even odd kind of animal that takes us to many different points from the show. To be completely honest, there’s not really a firm story here, but more of a completely alternative perspective to the intense and familiar events of the series. Do not think that that means that there is no story at all, though — there certainly is, and the more you think about the new things that you see within the film, the more you related them to the overall story, and this is where this movie really works well. The Plan actually plays out almost like the deleted scenes in your DVD special features section, which is kind of strange, but again, unique in its own little way.

| Will Our Favorite Starbuck Katee Sackhoff Become Typhoid Mary In ‘Daredevil’ Reboot Or ‘Deadpool’ Spin-off? |
 |

Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles is becoming a comic book movie-lovers best friend. The shop has their own blog, and when Hollywood’s talent comes in an purchases an insta-collection of one particular comic, they let the world know. Obviously when a star just shows up and buys a pile, there’s something going on — most likely they’re going to audition, or maybe they’ve even already landed the role. In any case, the latest rumor is quite interesting. The comic store shared that a one Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica‘s Starbuck) came into the shop and bought all of the Typhoid Mary comic books that should could carry with “hopes of getting a Marvel role.” This has lead all to assume two things: The planned reboot of Daredevil, or the Deadpool spin-off movie. This is all purely speculation of course, but from what I hear of Typhoid Mary, she’s completely insane. Hearing this, I can’t imagine you could find many ladies who could swing that quite like Miss Sackhoff.
