Speaking nostalgically, the Batman Year One comic series by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli instigates many happy memories for me. I, along with many other geeks, hold the earlier Miller Batman work in high esteem, and the Year One arc released back in 1987 is often regarded with much reverence. It, accompanied by titles like The Killing Joke and others, is often pointed to as being must-read material for new Batman readers.
Thus, when it was announced that Warner Brothers Animation and DC were going forward with an animated adaptation of the classic and timeless Batman Year One, it was a bittersweet moment. Would they stand true to the original material? Or make sweeping adaptations for the release?

Universal Sets Release Date For ‘Riddick 3’ With Vin Diesel
We haven’t heard a whole lot about the third installment in the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy, titled simply Riddick, since we got a peek at that first set photo of star Vin Diesel back in January.
Now comes word that Universal Pictures has set an official release date for the trilogy-maker, which continues the stories told in Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, reserving the September 6, 2013 spot.

‘Battlestar Galactica’ Star Katee Sackhoff Joins Gina Carano In All-Female ‘Expendables’
When it was announced that an all-female version of The Expendables was being made, many scratched their head and wondered if it could and would work. Naturally, a large part of its potential success was going to depend on whether or not they could put together a cast equal to the awesomeness that was the cast that was put together for The Expendables and its sequel.
Thankfully, things are off to a good start. The first cast member reported was former American Gladiator and MMA superstar Gina Carano, who recently stepped into the role of bad ass action movie star for the movie Haywire. Now comes word that geek goddess Katee Sackhoff has also signed on.

Jordi Molla Gearing Up To Play The Villain in ‘Riddick’
Despite some recent financial headaches that halted filming for two months, the production of the upcoming Riddick, which will bring Vin Diesel back to the star-making role he first played in the 2000 sci-fi thriller Pitch Black, is moving full-speed ahead.
The David Twohy-directed sequel has just added a new player to its growing cast: according to Variety, Jordi Molla, the Spanish actor who has played outsized heavies in big-budget action movies such as Knight and Day and Bad Boys II, is currently in negotiations to play the role of “Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick.” The actor was recently seen as the villain in the Zoe Saldana action flick Colombiana.
