It’s been a couple of huge weeks, and we’re catching up from some time off last week with an extra-sized list this week. There are two books you need to buy this week, which I will list below. Sure, I suppose you can buy other books, but these are pretty much required reading for any comic book fan. Apparently, vampires are kind of popular these days, for some reason. Fortunately, Dracula: The Company of Monsters #1 isn’t about just any vampire, but it’s about the biggest granddaddy vampire of them all, so it’s definitely trying to set itself apart. The story goes into the “real” history of Dracula, as told by Evan, a researcher for some kind of large, family owned company. Evan has been tasked by uncle to track down information about Vlad the Impaler, specifically the spells used to turn Vlad into the big D. From there, it looks like Evan’s uncle want’s to bring old Drac into this century and do…something? I don’t know exactly what they plan to do, but if it involves a blood sucker, you know it’s going to be evil.

‘Dracula: The Company Of Monsters’ Debuting This August From BOOM! Studios

Dracula CoverGood news horror fans, this August, BOOM! Studios will be debuting a new ongoing comic book series titled Dracula: The Company Of Monsters.

The book will feature a stellar crew including acclaimed writers Kurt Busiek and Daryl Gregory (Pandemonium) along with artist Scott Godlewski (Codebreakers). It will also feature covers by artist Dan Brereton (The Nocturnals) and Ron Salas.

Busiek had this to say about the upcoming book:

“Dracula’s a character who’s always fascinated me and getting a chance to build something firmly rooted in Dracula’s real-world (and Stoker-novel) history, but with a very modern edge, is the kind of creative challenge I love. It’s the world’s greatest vampire against the corporate world — and there’s no easy way to tell who’s the real villain, and who’s the hero. I’m thrilled to be working with Daryl, Scott and BOOM! on this. Putting it together feels like the early days of working on Conan, and I think the results are going to be a real treat for readers.”
