Must Watch: Trailer For Stop-Motion Movie ‘Kubo and The Two Strings’

We’ve seen a few really gorgeous stop-motion films come out of LAIKA Entertainment, including Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls. With their latest effort, Kubo and the Two Strings, they most certainly appear to be continuing that trend after watching the new trailer for the movie, which mixes both awesome visuals and an epic instrumental cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”
The movie stars Game of Thrones actor Art Parkinson (who plays Rickon on the HBO series—which is pretty cool as his TV big brother, Bran actor Isaac Hempstead Wright, starred in LAIKA’s The Boxtrolls) in the role of Kubo. Joining him on the cast is Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Fiennes, Rooney Mara, George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Brenda Vaccaro.

Celebrating 10 Years Of LAIKA Stop-Motion Animation (Video)

The stop-motion animated films of LAIKA Entertainment might not be the most financially successful features released, but there is no denying the incredible amount of detail they put into creating their miniature worlds. Many would opt for just digitally animating the movies, but LAIKA stays dedicated to their craft. And it’s a real shame they don’t do much bigger numbers at the box office, because the tiny worlds they create really are incredible.
LAIKA is celebrating their ten-year anniversary this year, and to mark the achievement they have released a brief video looking back at their work, including the features Coraline, ParaNorman, and most recently, The Boxtrolls.

‘The Boxtrolls’: A Look At The Amazing Work That Went Into The Stop-Motion Feature (Videos)

If you’ve seen 2009’s Coraline or 2012’s ParaNorman, then you know the kind of top-notch stop-motion animation work that Laika Entertainment can deliver. With their next feature, The Boxtrolls, they of course aim to set the bar higher.
While we can watch, enjoy, and appreciate a movie for what it is, not always do we really see what goes into making it. This is especially the case for stop-motion films, which require an unfathomable amount of work and detail to pull off successfully. With The Boxtrolls set to hit theaters this Friday, distributor Focus Features has unveiled a pair of new videos that will give you a greater appreciation of the art of stop-motion.
You can check them out below.

Watch This Behind-The-Scenes Footage For Laika’s Newest Animated Feature ‘ParaNorman’

Putting together a full-length stop-motion animated feature is perhaps the most tedious thing to watch. Every movement has to be just right, it may be a long process, but it will all pay off in the end. So now a new featurette for ParaNorman shows just how important it is to get things right. Check out the video below.
The production process for a stop-motion animated feature is just amazing. Watching the ParaNorman animators piece together all the characters, design the set pieces, and make the puppets move is something that future filmmakers and animators will truly enjoy. But if you’re of the group that just loves these behind-the-scenes footage, then I suggest you watch the video below.
