A loner dressed in dusty black leather, his rusted hulk of a badass automotive war machine, and the assembled forces of wasteland evil looming in the distance…what more could you possibly require of a first poster for next year’s Mad Max: Fury Road?

The fourth film in Australian filmmaker George Miller‘s imaginative, highly influential post-apocalyptic action franchise has been in the works since the days when original star Mel Gibson was still a viable screen leading man without a hint of scandal about him. Now that British star-on-the-rise Tom Hardy has replaced Gibson in the iconic role of monosyllabic wanderer Max Rockatansky, Fury Road is finally rolling at full speed and looks to have a huge presence at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con. Ahead of the Con Warner Brothers has released the first poster for Fury Road, which shows little but promises much.

So far we’ve only seen the one solid image from the long-awaited next installment in director George Miller‘s Mad Max franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road. But that changes now.

A collection of new images from the movie have been released, and they certainly looks like a Mad Max sequel…one that’s much closer to the first sequel, 1981’s The Road Warrior, and the trilogy-maker Beyond Thunderdome. The images show stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, as well as co-stars Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Courtney Eaton, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and some proper post-apocalyptic vehicles.

Warner Brothers has set an official release date for Mad Max: Fury Road, the long-coming fourth installment in the Mad Max franchise.

The studio has locked in the May 15, 2015 slot for the movie, which stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult, adding it to what is shaping up to be one of the biggest summer movie seasons we’ve ever seen.

Remember way back in 2009 when very few of us knew who Tom Hardy was, when we found out that he would be taking the place of Mel Gibson as Mad Max in George Miller‘s fourth movie in the post-apocalyptic franchise, titled Mad Max: Fury Road.

The movie has been in the making for quite some time, indeed, and it’s not even being released until sometime in 2014. Hardy has become one a superstar in that time, and only continues to grow, which can only mean very good things for the new Mad Max flick.

Today comes out first peek at Hardy as Mad Max from the movie. It’s a picture he signed for one of the crew members, that was later confirmed by Warner Brothers to be an authentic Max shot. You can see the image below!

Some new images from the set of the upcoming fourth installment in the Mad Max franchise, titled Mad Max: Fury Road, have found their way to the ‘net.

The images show off some good post-apocalyptic vehicles and props, as well as some rather unsettling masks and costumes that will be used in one way or another.
