Super Mario Bros. Pregnancy Announcement

You’re not going to find many pregnancy announcement videos here at Geeks of Doom, we promise (unless of course it’s for April Fools’ Day), but this was too good not to share. Most…”news”…outlets report on a pregnancy when it involves some Hollywood it couple or royalty, which is boring and unnecessary. This non-Hollywood couple decided to make their announcement in a much more entertaining way, that will no doubt make any geek smile.

The couple used the familiar first level of the classic Nintendo video game Super Mario Bros. to make the announcement, tweaking it a bit to fit their current life story and capping it off with the big news (spoiler alert?).

You can check out the video below.

Super Mario Bros. Game Over Screen

I, like countless others, have the fondest of memories of my time spent playing Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System. So many have experienced similar grand times, and the game’s reputation is so great, in fact, that even some teens of today playing it for the very first time are well-aware of its existence and excited at the chance to try it.

But there’s also some bad memories, as well. More specifically, remembering all of those times we got to World 6 or 7 or even 8 after hours of trying, and then died on our final life, sending us back to the start again. As we learned of the various shortcuts this became a tad bit less painful, but still frustrating nevertheless.

But what if I told you there was a little secret Super Mario Bros. was hiding these past 30 years that would have made things much easier on us?

Super Smash Wars By James Farr

There are plenty of mash-up videos floating around the internet, many of them not worth viewing; but sometimes, a video can be done so remarkably well, it needs to be shared using a little “force.” Super Smash Wars is one such video.

In two parts, this fan-made creation by animator James Farr combines the epic adventure of Star Wars with many classic Nintendo properties including The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., and Metroid. Using cartoon-style illustrations with old-school video game sequence to sequence action, Super Smash Wars grabs hold of your inner child and refuses to let go. Sit back and prepare for awesomeness with this geek-filled extravaganza.

Be sure to continue below to watch the videos.

It Came From The Interwebs!

With a jetpack fueled by insomnia and an easily amused mind, It Came From The Interwebs scours and sifts through everything that has ever appeared on the internet (more or less) to find a few things that you should know about every week. These things come from the interwebs, hence the clever name.

This week, we return from a few days of getting lost in Tom Hiddleston’s eyes to bring you the vampire unicorn cyborg of web junk columns, featuring: the hip hop stylings of Jon Hamm, the meteorological rise of a prince, the gravitational fall of dominoes, and an Icelandic invasion.
