| Release Date For ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Already Set By Sony
We still have a little under a year before Marc Webb‘s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, titled The Amazing Spider-Man, arrives in theaters on July 3, 2012, but plans on the sequel are well underway. If you’ll recall, it was announced back in March that screenwriter James Vanderbilt was already fast at work on the script for the sequel, and now Sony and Columbia Pictures have laid claim to the May 2, 2014 calendar spot to unveil their follow–up effort, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

| SDCC 2011: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Panel, Footage Description & Video Of Andrew Garfield Surprise |
 |

Unfortunately for The Amazing Spider–Man, their trailer leaked a tad early, leading Columbia Pictures to just release it for all to see (unfortunately for them, maybe, but good for those of us excited about the movie!). Surely if the trailer hadn’t have leaked they could have wowed everyone at Comic–Con with it before releasing it, but they still were sure to bring a little something extra to show off. The panel kicked off with said trailer, this time in 3D to add a little bit new to the mix, before someone dressed in a low–budget Spider–Man costume came up to the microphone going on about how excited they were to be there. After a bit, the person removes their mask to reveal that it’s the new Spidey himself, Andrew Garfield, who then talks about how much the superhero means to him and how much it changed his life growing up. Garfield then introduced the rest of the panel””his co–star and female lead, Emma Stone, director Marc Webb, and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach“”before removing the costume and joining them. Co–star Rhys Ifans was the surprise guest later in the panel. Keep reading for new footage descriptions and to check out some pictures from the panel. You can also see a video of Garfield’s speech after he revealed himself as the costumed fan!

After a poor quality copy leaked online several days ago, and with the San Diego Comic-Con gearing up this week, Columbia Pictures decided to release the first official teaser trailer for their major 2012 summer release The Amazing Spider-Man. The past week has seen the movie getting a lot of exposure after going into production late last year, and in addition to the new trailer, the new issue of Entertainment Weekly devoted the cover and lead story of its new Comic-Con-themed issue to the Marc Webb-directed reboot. You can watch the much clearer version of the teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider–Man here below.

| 15 New Images From ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Released
Some solid new images from Columbia Pictures’ upcoming reboot of the Spider–Man franchise, titled The Amazing Spider–Man, have been released online via Entertainment Weekly. The new images offer up quite a bit to look at…and perhaps criticize for the good and/or bad. You’ll see some more peeks at star Andrew Garfield in full Spidey costume, his homemade web–shooters, and sans–costume trying out his powers on the subway, on the basketball court, and setting another student straight at school. You’ll see some of Garfield with love interest Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and with Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Also shown off is a couple of looks at villain Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) and Gwen’s dad, George Stacy (Denis Leary). You can see all 15 new images by clicking on over to the other side now!

Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Season One
DVD
Starring Levar Burton, Whoopie Goldberg, Meg Ryan, Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, and Jeff Goldblum
Shout! Factory
Release Date: April 19, 2011
The eco-conscious ’90s are revisited in this collection of Season One of Captain Planet and the Planeteers. In this collection, viewers are introduced to the Planeteers, a group of teens chosen by Gaia, the Spirit of the Earth, to defend the Earth from environmental villains. The Planeteers are a multicultural bunch that includes Kwame from Africa, Wheeler from America, Linka from Eastern Europe, Gi from Asia, and Ma-Ti from Brazil. As a Reading Rainbow and Roots fan, I remember being happy that Levar Burton was included in the cast as the voice of Kwame. I was also a fan of the original voice of Gaia, Whoopi Goldberg. Sadly, Goldberg and several of the original voice actors for the eco villains would be replaced in later seasons. In Season One, however, we have the voice talents of Meg Ryan (Dr. Blight), Jeff Goldblum (Verminous Skumm), Martin Sheen (Sly Sludge), John Ratzenberger (Rigger), and Ed Asner (Hoggish Greedly). This all-star gathering gave the show legitimacy and made watching the series more exciting. After I read the credits, I began playing a guessing game and trying to match the celebrity voice with the eco-villain.
