| Marvel Hammers Us With New ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Stills and Plot Details |
Even in the Marvel Universe, when you’re an ageless Norse god of thunder who can ride the lightning like no one’s business and call a living heavy metal album cover home, you can still tick off your girlfriend. “Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” said Chris Hemsworth, the star of Thor: The Dark World, the next movie in Marvel Studios’ Phase Two line-up following next month’s Iron Man 3. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.” Speaking to Bryan Alexander of USA Today, Hemsworth and Marvel’s president of production Kevin Feige discussed some modest details of the plot of the Alan Taylor-directed sequel – mostly regarding the relationship between the mighty Thor and his earthbound sweetheart Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), whom he was forced to abandon at the end of the first movie. As you see in the still below, Portman’s character gets to spend a little time with Thor in Asgard when events on her home planet insist.

| Make Mine Merle! Michael Rooker Is Now One Of The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ |
In the greatest, and somehow most obvious, comic movie casting news since Arnold Schwarzenegger was announced as Mr. Freeze (Sarcasm folks), Michael Rooker has signed on to co-star in James Gunn‘s star-spanning Marvel superhero epic Guardians of the Galaxy. Before you say, “Oh he has to be playing a villain” stop right there and read on! The mighty Rook will be playing the role of Yondu Udonta. Those of you familiar with the character will know that Yondu is a member of the team. He is a Guardian. So there you go. Michael Rooker, who has played both heroes and villains in his colorful acting career, has joined the Marvel Movie Universe, and best of all he’s playing one of the good guys. The character of Yondu is described as “a game hunter of a primitive tribe native to Centauri IV, the first planet system to be colonized outside of the Sun’s solar system” who bands together with other intergalactic fugitives to form the titular team.

| MAJOR SPOILER: ‘Iron Man 3’ Post-Credits Cameo Possibly Revealed |
Part of the fun of following the developing of each Marvel Studios movie is wondering what amazing surprises would go into their now customary post-credits scene. The first Iron Man paved the way with Samuel L. Jackson’s appearance as Nick Fury to recruit Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in “the Avenger Initiative” at the very end, while The Avengers simultaneously closed out Phase One and kicked Phase Two into high gear with the revelation that the cosmic evil pulling the strings the whole time was none other than Thanos, one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful and fearsome villains. That last scene was inserted into the middle of the end credits, so if you stuck around until its final seconds you got to see the Avengers themselves chowing down on a shawarma dinner – a scene filmed only days before the movie’s theatrical debut. Iron Man 3 held its premiere over the weekend in Paris and according to a source at Latino Review, the Shane Black-directed sequel continues Marvel’s proud tradition of closing their films out in surprising fashion. READ NO FURTHER IF YOU WANT TO AVOID A MAJOR SPOILER!

| ‘Ant-Man’ and ‘Doctor Strange’ Are Leading The Pack In Marvel Films’ Phase 3 |
I think it has been enough time for all of us to come back down to Earth after taking the magical carpet ride that was The Avengers this past summer. The second phase of Marvel Films’ master plan to conquer the world of comic book blockbusters and make DC Comics their simpering puppet is well under way with Iron Man 3 first out of the gate in May, Thor: The Dark World in production now with a release set for this November, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy fast approaching the start of filming in anticipation of their theatrical bows next year, and The Avengers 2…. well I’m sure the production offices are open and someone’s paying the electric and water bills. Obviously people are now looking to the future and the elusive Phase 3 of the Mighty Marvel Movie Universe to see what the studio that is reaping the riches from bringing their four-color classics to the big screen the way they were meant to be seen has in store for us once The Avengers 2 inevitably reduces us all to quivering nerd puddles come May 2015. The only title in Phase 3 that has been announced so far is Ant-Man, which has Edgar Wright sitting pretty in the director’s chair and his frequent collaborator (and writer and director of 2011’s awesome sci-fi adventure Attack the Block) Joe Cornish co-writing the script with Wright.
