Jimmy Kimmel Set To Return As Oscars Host

Jimmy Kimmel Oscars

After hosting the 89th annual Academy Awards ceremony earlier this year, Jimmy Kimmel Live! host Jimmy Kimmel has been locked in to return as host for the 90th Oscars ceremony early next year.

Producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd will also be returning in the same roles. The announcement was made by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Cheryl Boone Isaacs today.

Sony Pictures Obtains Rights To ‘Robotech’

Robotech

Last February, Warner Bros. announced that a live-action Robotech was under development. The studio was eyeing Andy Muschietti (Shadow of the Colossus, Mama) to direct the film. Now comes word that rights to the popular anime series have moved over to Sony Pictures.

Variety says the studio hopes to move forward with Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton (300, The Immortals) as producers, and with Michael Gordon (300, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) writing the script. No word yet on if the studio is still considering Muschietti as director. The project will be overseen at Sony Pictures by Sony Pictures Entertainment Group President Doug Belgrad, Columbia Pictures Production Chief Michael De Luca, and Sony Pictures Vice President of Creative Production Matthew Milam.

New ‘Fright Night’ Posters Showcases Characters

The remake of Fright Night is right around the corner, to be released on August 19, 2011, and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, and David Tennant. With the countdown on, the studio has released some new international posters, focusing on the main characters, which you can see at the bottom of this post.

I’m looking forward to seeing this flick, but like I’ve mentioned in a few previous posts, when it comes to remakes it always counts to be cautious. Best approach this one with a “not sure if want” attitude, folks.

Having said that, however, the trailers thus far have looked impressive; and in addition we get to see Doctor Who‘s David Tennant on the big screen again. I know there’s a lot of Who fans out there that are anticipating this film simply because of Tennant’s role – and it could potentially be a bit of a springboard for the actor into some future bigger roles.

Here’s hoping so, anyway. Enjoy the posters…
