Mother!
Written & Directed by Darren Aronofsky
Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer
Paramount Pictures
Release date: September 15, 2017 *** Note – no spoilers below for Mother!, but I also recommend that you DO NOT research the film or look it up on IMDb until after you see it. *** With all the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the face, Darren Aronofsky brings you Mother! The film stars Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as a married couple living and working out of a huge house in the middle of woods. He is a poet dealing with crippling writer’s block and she is working effortlessly to get the house in order. Soon they are visited by guests seemingly out of nowhere. A doctor arrives, followed by his wife and later their sons. Soon the whole house is full and while Bardem seems to revel in the attention and adulation, Lawrence grows quickly worried and fearful. And that’s pretty much all I can tell you about the plot of Mother! without spoiling anything. The plot is not what matters here. Instead, let me segue by telling you that about 100 minutes into this 2+ hour film, a man sitting way back in the theater threw a full soda at the screen, showering us as it flew by, before storming out with his female companion. Yep, Mother! is THAT kinda movie.

| Paramount Shuts Down New ‘Friday The 13th,’ Pulls ‘World War Z 2’ From Schedule
A major studio changing a scheduled release is common practice within the industry. But when it comes to pulling a major tentpole sequel off the schedule, that is something to worry about. A new report confirms Paramount has pulled World War Z 2 and Friday the 13th of their scheduled release, with the latter later reported to be shut down completely. Both films were a part of Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes production company. However, they have announced a release date for Darren Aronofsky‘s mother!, starring Jennifer Lawrence. Glenn Danzig has announced that he is in the studio and currently recording a covers album. Fans of Danzig will know this project is one the artist has been talking about for some time, and five songs have already been recorded for the album. While Danzig hasn’t released full details yet, it’s understood that among the song selections will be tributes to Black Sabbath and Elvis Presley. While the Sabbath and Elvis selections, I believe, are somewhat “predictable” choices for Danzig (I imagine he’ll probably throw a song by The Doors in there somewhere too), I would like to think he will choose some tracks that might be a surprise for his fans. I could imagine him doing an interesting interpretation of Nick Cave‘s “Red Right Hand” or a classic rock song like “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. This is all just speculation on my part of course, but as a fan I’d like to see Danzig tackle some covers that are a little more unpredictable. Either way, it will be interesting to see what Glenn comes up with for this project. Maybe he could include a hidden track of him paying tribute to the “Glenn Danzig Shopping List” :)
