In 2010, Dynamite Entertainment acquired the rights to Evil Ernie from Chaos! Comics. That acquisition finally bears fruit as writer Jesse Blaze Snider, a long-time fan of Evil Ernie, takes the helm on this character reboot. Dynamite could not, however, nab the rights to Lady Death, who held a significant role in Evil Ernie‘s original storyline. Her absence from Evil Ernie #1‘s story alters Evil Ernie’s origin and motivations, but the look, personality, and Smiley button of the undead psychopath remain.

Evil Ernie #1 briefly covers Ernest Fairchild’s traumatic childhood which directly leads into his demonic transformation. Ernest was born in 1993 during a bizarre car accident where his entire family was killed. His father, possessed by something, taunts his daughter and pregnant wife right before slamming the car into a light pole.

While off at wrestling bootcamp, I learned a many things. I learned the art of the double turn, how to properly hip toss my opponents, while transitioning into the “No Lock.” Yes, I learned a lot of things, but the one think I didn’t learn was how to manage my time properly. Don’t you just love it when two great things come together? I’m not saying this is as good as a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup…mmm…chocolate and peanut butter…er, um. What I mean is this may seem like strange match, but it may well turn out to be a great combination. Danger Girl and the Army of Darkness #3 gives us a smattering of both the world of a Danger Girl and that of Ash.

This issue introduces the reader to Sydney Savage and a bit of her back story. We also get a lot of shots of her in her vintage black leather catsuit (no, I’m not complaining). So after we see how she became a Danger Girl we get to watch her infiltrate the facility where Ash is being held.
