Cinemax's Rellik

Cinemax has released an official trailer for Rellik, an upcoming limited series.

The six-episode series has sort of a Memento thing going on, beginning with the capture of a serial killer suspect and working backwards towards the crime being committed. It stars Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion on HBO’s Game of Thrones, ’71), Jodi Balfour (Cinemax’s Quarry, Netflix’s The Crown), Paterson Joseph (HBO’s The Leftovers, NBC’s Timeless), Lærke Winther (Dicte: Crime Reporter), Shannon Tarbet (Genius), and the great Ray Stevenson (HBO’s Rome, Thor, Punisher: War Zone, Starz’ Black Sails).

Doctor Who

After being somewhat evasive about the Doctor Who topic on everyone’s mind at SDCC recently, Steven Moffat and the BBC have unveiled that they will be announcing the next actor to portray the next incarnation of the Doctor in an unprecedented live event to be shown on television across the world.

In the UK, the announcement will be screened on BBC One on Sunday, August 4 at 7:00 PM; while U.S. fans will get the live broadcast at 2:00 PM EST on Sunday, August 4 on BBC America.

If you’re unable to tune in, Geeks of Doom will be publishing the big reveal once the announcement is made; which will be followed by a special episode of the TARDISblend in which we will be discussing the new Doctor, as well as some of the other news and rumors that have been making the rounds.

This year, the BBC celebrates the 15th anniversary of fan-favorite Neil Gaiman‘s first endeavor into the world of television series. In 1996, Gaiman had established himself as a solid writer of novels and comic series, and joining forces with the phenomenal Lenny Henry, created the world of Neverwhere – an almost-unseen domain lying beneath the city of London.

I may lose a little geek cred here, but prior to this year, I had limited exposure to Gaiman. I was a fan of his Alice Cooper comic for The Last Temptation CD in the 1990s, and had some mild awareness with Sandman, but that was it. Until this year: being a Doctor Who fan, it was inevitable, the Neil Gaiman-penned The Doctor’s Wife was a major highlight of the 2011 season.
