| Watch Now: ‘Total Recall’ Remake International Promo With First Footage
Not much has been heard or seen about the remake of Total Recall directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld) with Colin Farrell in the role Arnold Schwarzenegger played in the 1990 Paul Verhoeven-directed sci-fi action smash since it went into production last year, outside of a few promotional and behind-the-scenes photos and a presentation at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. With the movie scheduled for release later this summer, the lack of even a teaser trailer or poster is troubling for the latest cinematic adaptation of Philip K. Dick‘s short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.” Today, we have an international promo video featuring snippets of footage from the new Total Recall. You can watch it here below.

| ‘Breaking Bad’ Star Bryan Cranston Joins Colin Farrell In ‘Total Recall’ Remake
An actor has been chosen to play one of the villains in the upcoming remake of Total Recall, and that actor looks like it will be Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, who’s currently in negotiations for the role. The movie is a remake of the 1990 movie of the same name, which is based on the Philip K. Dick story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. It follows a man named Douglas Quaid who takes a vacation of the mind to the planet Mars, but when he suspects his memories have been corrupted in hopes of hiding his own reality he ventures to the planet for real, causing him to uncover some very big secrets and leading him to question what is real and what is all in his mind.

| Colin Farrell Confirmed For ‘Total Recall’ Remake; Will Not Be In 3D
While speaking to Collider recently during a press day for The Green Hornet at the Sony Pictures lot, producer Neal Moritz shared a significant confirmation on another of his projects: Total Recall. Though called a remake of sorts with the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name being so popular, this new movie is more of a second adaptation of Philip K. Dick‘s short novel, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. But who would play the lead role Arnie once played? Well, according to Moritz, the actor they’ve secured is Colin Farrell. This fits with a subtle-yet-interesting trend of casting much smaller gentlemen in roles Schwarzenegger once played. It also makes plenty of sense — no point in getting your actor compared to the former bodybuilder when you can go in an entirely different direction.

A Scanner Darkly
Blu-ray | DVD
Directed by Richard Linklater
Starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Winona Ryder, Woody Harrelson, Rory Cochrane
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment
Release date: September 7, 2010
Here is a film meant to be existentially frightening. It shows the power of drugs and the frailty of the human spirit, two main contributions that can put the human soul at an extreme vulnerability. Director Richard Linklater never diverts its attention to concentrate on anything else. Only when we realize the descent the characters in A Scanner Darkly have to go through do we get disturbed. Like most great science-fiction films, one succeeds the best when it explores the unexplored depths of the human mind. The film’s unusual look lures us into its web of disheartening themes. Like his previous film that dealt with extensively analyzing of dreams, Waking Life, A Scanner Darkly adopts that film’s visual flair by using an unorthodox way of mixing animation with reality. The actors, décor, and environment inhabit their true form, but the difference is the way they are presented; in animation. It is a laborious process to achieve this but the tone the film carries throughout the movie because of this animation is something completely fascinating and odd.
