Spoilers below for Ash vs Evil Dead

Sorry for the delay, but I’m back with a recap of this week’s Ash vs Evil Dead, Episode 2.5 “Confinement.” But first, let’s catch up with last week: Our heroes were divided as Ash (Bruce Campbell) with his old buddy Chet (Ted Raimi) along for the ride did battle against his possessed car, the Delta, which had Pablo (Ray Santiago) trapped inside. Sadly, Brock Williams (Lee Majors), Ash’s recently forgiving father, is dead, run down and brain squashed by his own possessed automobile. Meanwhile, Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Ruby (Lucy Lawless) form an unlikely alliance to defeat her demon spawn. Pablo gets another vision from the book of his death, but he and Ash find a portal to Hell in the trunk of the Delta and finally appear to have ridded themselves of the Necronomicon once and for all. But of course then there wouldn’t be anymore show. The demon spawn’s daddy is coming”¦

Spoilers below for Ash vs Evil Dead

While everyone was busy twisting away over who Negan would beat to death on that other Sunday night horror-themed show, I was more concerned with Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his neverending pursuit of the necronomicon. Last week on Ash vs Evil Dead, Ash and the gang tried to lure the annoying teenagers who stole the Delta out with a huge party, but it was no dice as the kids were being picked off one by one thanks to the Evil Dead. Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) doesn’t feel like she’s being appreciated and finds solace in a new partnership with Ruby (Lucy Lawless). While Ash is busy acting like a primitive screwhead, they are going to take the reins on finding the book and stopping Ruby’s hellspawn. And just when Ash thought things were getting back on track after saving his dad (Lee Majors) from a deadite attack, their family reunion is interrupted when Brock is mowed down by the demon-possessed Delta.

Spoilers below for Ash vs Evil Dead

On Ash vs Evil Dead, last time we saw Ash (Bruce Campbell) he literally had his head up an ass. In maybe the most unbelievable idea ever concocted by the Evil Dead gang, Ash was dragged up the anal cavity of a dead carcass in the Elk Grove morgue. I got to watch that episode at NYCC and the poor sap next to me got legitimately sick and nearly threw up. I have no idea what they’re gonna come up with for an encore. Maybe forgotten in that one sh*tty scene, was that the Necronomicon ended up in the Delta and the car was stolen by a group of wise-cracking youth. Also Brock Williams (Lee Majors), Ash’s Dad, had a date go a little off when she turned out to be a deadite.

Well, the answer to how you top last week is answered partially pre-credits in Episode 2.3 “Last Call” when a girl finds the book in the Delta and reads from it. Her boyfriend’s hook-up session ends very badly. Ruby (Lucy Lawless) tries to organize a manhunt for the book, but Ash has other ideas.

“I can’t fart without tripping over that thing, and I fart a lot!”

Sometimes your eyes see things they can’t un-see. Yesterday at New York Comic-Con, inside a packed Hammerstein Ballroom, the cast of Ash vs Evil Dead held a hilarious 45-minute panel discussion before debuting the second episode of their second season on the Starz network. Bruce Campbell, the man himself, introduced the episode to a crowd fist bumping their foam finger chainsaw hands. And then he issued the warning”¦ you are about to see something so crazy that it’s never been done before on television”¦ you’ll know it when you see, and you may want to, but you will not be able to turn away. After the panel, we were treated to an advanced screening of the next episode, Episode 2.2 “The Morgue” – check out my recap of it here below.

Ash (Bruce Campbell) is back at the cabin in the woods. His return there has been… well, I guess, same old same old. By that, I mean same old deadites running around killing people he cares about, blood spewing, body parts rolling… ya know, the good ole days! Just as Deadite Fisher was about to go after Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo), Pablo (Ray Santiago) and cute blonde hiker Heather (Samara Weaving), Ruby returned seemingly from the dead. Ruby (Lucy Lawless) tells Ash to cut the face off the Necronomicon (eww) and IT attaches itself to Pablo (eww again)! Everyone assumes Ruby is there to help stop the Evil Dead but it turns out, she WROTE the darn book! Ash and the gang must fight The Dark One, as season one of Ash vs Evil Dead comes to its conclusion.
