For anyone who hasn’t seen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse yet, Sony recently released a video which shares the first nine minutes of the movie for all to enjoy.

Coming off its Academy Award win for Best Animated Feature, the movie is also heading back into theaters for a limited time. So you still have a chance to catch it on the big screen if you missed its original run. Continue below to watch the opening minutes.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse brought in a variety of animation styles into one film. The traditional CG animation, a purely black and white noir character, and an anime character. But if there was one that truly brought some personality to the film, it’s the wacky Looney Tunes take on the webslinger called Spider-Ham. And he’s exactly as you would picture him: a bipedal pig with the same powers as Spider-Man, with all of his action reminiscent of Looney Tunes.

Now with the film arriving on home video, we are getting a sneak preview of the bonus features that will be available on the Blu-ray, 4K, and digital releases. It’s that time of year again when critics release their top ten movies of the year. No list is really the same, but each is a glimpse of a critic’s tastes in movies. Some have a mix of blockbusters and indie films, others lean heavily towards the former or the latter. Whatever the case may be, we can all come to the conclusion that films are a means of an escape or to be entertained by. They help us grieve or express joy and love. Each year gives us such a variety of films that allows us to express those emotions.

But what makes this year extraordinary special is that it took a giant step forward for representation. Some of the best films showed us that anyone can wear the mask. Another celebrates a culture that has gone under-represented for far too long by using a familiar yet effective rom-com formula. Other films spoke out to send a clear message about injustice. Then there are the sequels that thoroughly entertained us after 10 years of franchise storytelling.

So while the best films of the year are a matter of opinion, below are my top ten favorite films of the year. Some of these films won’t appear on anybody’s list. Some won’t even be ranked the same. But these are the films that meant the most to me, and if you haven’t seen them, I hope my choices encourage you to do so. See below for my top 10 movies of 2018.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is ending up on many critics’ top ten lists for their favorites of the year – including my own. The film dazzles the screen with moving comic panels and comes alive with pop-up action blurbs. It’s unlike any other film you’ve seen before. It only gets better with a new web spin on the classic webhead. We don’t have to hear another retelling of Peter Parker’s story. Instead, Miles Morales swings in as the lead, breathing new life into the Spider-Man lore.
