| ‘Star Trek’ Fans Unite! Vote To Name One Of Pluto’s Moons ‘Vulcan’
Two previously unknown moons of Pluto, with the temporary names “P4” and “P5,” were recently discovered, and now the public has a chance to vote on what to name them! One of the 21 proposed names on the ballot is Vulcan, which in the Star Trek universe is the name of Mr. Spock’s home world. Head over to the SETI website Pluto Rocks and cast your vote for Vulcan, which is actually in the lead right now, with Cerberus and Styx following close behind. William Shatner, who played starship Captain James T. Kirk on the original Star Trek television series and movies, is actually the person who suggested that Vulcan, which is the name of the Roman god of lava and smoke, and the nephew of Pluto, be added to the ballot. Shatner has been tweeting the link out to plutorocks.com, urging his followers to vote for Vulcan, in hopes that the International Astronomical Union (IAU) will actually choose the name.

Star Trek #17 is a great single-issue story focusing on one of the most famous crew members of the Starship Enterprise. It’s part love letter, part space adventure, which adds up to one great comic! Writer Mike Johnson turns in a fantastic tale of everyone’s favorite doctor, Leonard “Bones” McCoy. This is basically the untold origin of Bones – why he became a doctor, why he joined Starfleet, and just what happened with that ex-wife of his. This is a great character piece that could NEVER be told in a feature film, and if it was, would not be nearly as detailed as this story is. It’s got everything that makes it classic Star Trek, but told within the confines of the new films. It’s got heart, action, and humor, which makes this one great read.

| Watch Now: This ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Super Bowl TV Spot Warps Into Awesome
Paramount Pictures has used this year’s Super Bowl as the perfect opportunity to kick off – pun very much intended – the television arm of the marketing campaign for Star Trek Into Darkness with a snazzy and explosive new TV spot. You can watch it here below. There’s a lot of mighty purty imagery packed into those thirty painfully brief seconds, a few swatches of which have not been released before. In particular we get to see Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and the movie’s villain John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch) have a tense exchange, which is then followed by lots of explosions and people looking quite unhappy.
