The $10 t-shirt deal of the day over at Teefury today is the Thor – Super Mario Bros. mash-up called “Now That’s a Hammer, Bro!,” by artist Spiritgreen.

The sale at Teefury began at midnight EST (Monday, February 21, 2011) and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it’s gone from the site for good.

The design features one of the Hammer Bros., a Koopa from the Super Mario Bros video game who throws hammers, dressed up in Thor attire wielding the mighty Mjolnir.

The t-shirt deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel is the Super Mario Bros-inspired shirt called called “Player 2.”

The tee, by artist Matt Hawkins, went on sale at RIPT today, Sunday, February 13, 2011, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it will not be sold on the site anymore.

The design is based on the Super Mario Bros. video game, where Player 2 is played by Luigi, and in this scenario, he’s waiting a long time for his turn!

Remember back in 2008 guitarist Joe Satriani sued the band Coldplay, claiming that the band’s hit song “Viva La Vida” was a rip off of his 2004 instrumental “If I Could Fly”? [Read Joe Satriani Sues Coldplay For Biting His Riffs.] While Satch unfortunately lost the suit (even though the two songs clearly sounded similar), someone else has uncovered that “Viva La Vida” sounds like another familiar tune.

YouTube user MrRoboto11 decided to have some fun with the song by posting a video that demonstrates that when the Coldplay tune is sped up, it sounds like the Star Power theme from the popular Nintendo video game Super Mario Bros.

The video clocks in just under 2 minutes, and shows some of our favorite video game characters racing against each other within several gaming scenarios with different gaming landscapes, all set to classic video game music. You’ll recognize Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario, as well as characters from Disney animation and Back To The Future, and many more.

This fan-made video, which Eyspire animated frame by frame, is a segmented portion of a larger satire series he says he’s working on.

The sale at Teefury began at midnight EST (Monday, November 29, 2010) and will continue for 24 hours, and once it’s over, it’s gone forever.

The t-shirt design takes the Bowser (aka King Koopa) character from the Mario Bros. video games and puts him in the role of Jabba The Hutt upon his throne (here made of bricks) from Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi. By his side is Princess Peach from the game dressed in Slave Leia garb sitting on a question mark power-up block, and in the Salacious Crumb role is one of the Koopa turtle-like creatures. On display in the background frozen in carbonite is who I believe is Luigi (it’s hard to distinguish whether it’s Luigi or Mario without seeing the color of their outfits and the letter on the hat, but the hat looks more like Luigi’s and his chin in thin like Luigi’s).
