Geek Peek: Helena Bonham Carter From ‘Terminator Salvation’

Terminator Salvation

Fast Company has a first look at what Helena Bonham Carter‘s character, Serena, might look like in Terminator Salvation. The image is an artist’s conceptual vision of the human/CGI combination special effects that will be used in the film.

Terminator Salvation is directed by McG and stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anton Yelchin, and Common, with some voice over work by Linda Hamilton and may Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In fact, this concept may be a peek at one of the options for Schwarzenegger’s T-800; maybe grab him for the voice and use Arnie-clone Roland Kickinger along with this technique for the look. Who knows.

Click over to the other side for a look at the image. Be warned, it may be considered a little bit of a spoiler image for some of you, so click cautiously. I hate spoilers and I was able to check it out with no problem, so it shouldn’t be too bad for anyone to look at, but I have not seen the movie yet and I could be very wrong. Also, make sure you click the above link to Fast Company to watch video interviews with McG.

Sarah Connor Confirmed For ‘Terminator Salvation’

T4

It had been rumored for a long, long while, but now CHUD has confirmation from a source that was able to see an early screening of the movie that Linda Hamilton did indeed record some voice over as Sarah Connor, and that it plays right at the beginning at the movie. Apparently the voice over is, as hoped and expected, similar to the voice over at the end of Terminator 2.

Now that this has been confirmed, all we need to know is how we may or may not see a one Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie. I wouldn’t be shocked if it was also some form of voice over work along with Roland Kickinger — the other, younger Austrian body building look-alike — handling the visual aspects of the T-800.

Geeks of Doom Invade WonderCon 2009

T4By ScarletScribe

How do you know you’re at a Terminator Salvation panel led by the director, McG? The word “balls” is mentioned 50 times, an awkward (and unanswered) call is placed to Christian Bale’s house, and lots of unfinished CGI effects are flashed in front of your face in hopes that you’ll stop asking the question: do we really need a Terminator 4?

If you haven’t already guessed, McG thinks the answer to that question is a resounding yes and he’s been on a mission to get everyone to agree with him. While this is understandable — what director openly invites derision of his work, after all? — it’s led to convention panels that, while certainly entertaining, have been filled with cringe-inducing moments that are only forgotten when the clips start rolling.

The panel at WonderCon was no different. After rehashing, once again, his talks with James Cameron and Christian Bale about his desire to do another Terminator, McG attempted to drum up more enthusiasm from the crowd by calling Bale on speakerphone. Though the call went unanswered, the assembled were soon treated to appearances by Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Moon Bloodgood, and Common. Yelchin, who plays young Kyle Reese, gave his official opinion on the movie, saying, “I think it’s fucking awesome shit. It blew my mind.”

The Return Of Robert Patrick & The T-1000 In ‘Terminator 5’?

T-1000

After the Terminator Salvation panel at Wondercon, McG apparently stuck around to chat it up for a bit. One of the topics brought up, was the idea of Robert Patrick (who played the best evil Terminator of them all — the T-1000 — in T2) returning in Terminator 5 if, of course, Terminator Salvation succeeds and they decide to make another one, both of which are fully expected. Keep in mind, this is a planned trilogy, not just one at a time. Even star Christian Bale supposedly signed with the expectations of three films.

Surprisingly enough, McG responded with positive feelings about the idea. In fact, it appears that he has even been talking to Robert Patrick quite a bit (they’ve worked together twice in We Are Marshall and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle), and it’s no where near as far-fetched as you might think. Apparently McG has been busy with a lot of former cast and crew lately — Arnold Schwarzenegger saw the movie recently and they’re set to meet and discuss possible ways for Arnie to join the party; Linda Hamilton has been talking with him a lot about her possible voice over work, and McG is trying to get James Cameron to take a little peek at the movie as well, just for approval, of course.
