| Sweet Jesus — New ‘Terminator Salvation’ Trailer |
 |

So… you didn’t think Terminator Salvation could look any more bad-ass then is has so far? I’m here to tell you that you’re wrong. Forget all the drama, forget all of the PG-13 arguments, that’s all for later discussion. Right here and now, Yahoo! Movies has the new trailer that will play in front of Watchmen this weekend, and I have to say — it’s easily the best trailer that we’ve seen so far. This is one of those trailers that fans will watch over and over and over again. One of the stories that director McG has been telling on the convention circuit is how Christian Bale (John Connor) told him to re-do the whole script. That if he was going to do the movie, it had to be based on character and story, not action. Thankfully McG agreed with him that the draft was bad, they hired The Dark Knight co-writer Jonathan Nolan to help out, and the rest is history. This is the first trailer where we see this story playing out. We’ve always had a good look at the amazing visuals and the job that McG has done building a post-apocalyptic Judgment Day world, but seeing the story and characters was kept to a minimal. With this trailer you get a look at the visuals, the characters, the story, the performances, and even a well-used soundtrack. Click on over for your look at the new Terminator Salvation trailer.

| WonderCon 09: ‘Terminator Salvation’ And The Return Of The PG-13 Debate |
 |

It’s been a good while since my little tirade after we first heard that Terminator Salvation was aiming for a PG-13 rating (See: ‘Terminator Salvation: The Dilution Of A Franchise’). Well, the controversy has arisen once more!
Last year, director McG addressed the issue regarding the film’s rating, explaining that if the movie could be achieved with the PG-13, it would be, but that he was under no circumstances being forced by Warner Bros. to make it PG-13. He also said if the film turned out to be R-rated, then Warner Bros. would be fine and dandy with it. Now the newest “What a twist!” moment in the story. At this weekend’s WonderCon convention in San Francisco, McG held another Terminator Salvation panel. At said panel, McG shared that there was a scene in the movie involving Moon Bloodgood topless in the rain. The reason for the scene was to bring back that Sarah Connor presence in the movie. While we may still get actual Sarah Connor voice-over, McG wanted his female lead to have that strong-yet-sexy “I’ll kiss you or I’ll kill you” kind of a feel to her. It turns out though, that WB wasn’t so open to whatever was needed as we were once promised, asking that McG remove the scene from the final cut so that the feared PG-13 rating could be achieved.

| Linda Hamilton In Negotiations For ‘Terminator Salvation’ It has been a topic floating around Hollywood and picking up rumors almost as much as the participation of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger: will Linda Hamilton return to her iconic role of Sarah Connor in Terminator Salvation. We’ve known all along that if she did, it would likely only be in some form of voiceover capacity, but even that was exciting enough.
While still no confirmations have shown up, Hamilton confirmed that she has indeed been in talks to reprise the role. Hamilton stated: I haven’t read it yet. I don’t know what direction they will go in. My contribution would be voiceover. I would probably be very happy to loan my voice depending on what the material is. Wait and see. They’re already writing it. We’ve been negotiating it.

| Want To Create The Next Best Terminator? Choose Skynet! Ever had an idea for a sweet robot? Ever wished Skynet was real? Well, here, you can fantasize away.
A new viral website has come around and it’s built to be the official website for Skynet, the corporation behind creating the deadly robots responsible for Judgment Day in the Terminator movies, including the upcoming Terminator Salvation. The website looks like your basic, professional company website where you can go and read about who they are and what they do. One cool feature is the ability to submit ideas for robot designs. Another feature is that you can join Skynet — they ask a bunch of questions and send you a confirmation e-mail, but I’m not completely sure what happens after that yet. I’m still waiting for my first e-mail. Likely just some sort of newsletter, but I’m honored to be a member of Skynet. Click over for info on submitting your ideas.

| NYCC 09: ‘Terminator Salvation’ Panel |
 |

As you are all aware, we’re in the midst of the 2009 New York Comic Con. Today is a busy day with a lot going on; but for the moment, I’m here to share with you the occurrences of the Terminator Salvation panel.
The film’s director, McG, was the main man of course, and he covered many different areas of the project. Nothing breaking, but he did go into detail about the angle of the movie and when a certain question about Linda Hamilton‘s Sarah Connor character came up, let’s just say he gave a few hints about that. He also debuted some new footage, some of what which was not fully rendered yet, but was nevertheless met with much enthusiasm from the fans at the panel. Oh, and did anyone know that Michael Ironside is in this movie? Well he sure as hell is! McG began by telling the story of how he went to Terminator‘s director James Cameron on the set of Avatar to basically get his blessing as well as see Sam Worthington, who’s also in Terminator Salvation. If you’re not familiar with this story, Cameron basically said that he wouldn’t give the movie his support, but he “…wasn’t going to shit on it either.” He didn’t feel there was any need for it, but what they were doing did sound interesting enough, so he wished it well. Cameron also went on to tell the story of how he went in to do Aliens behind Ridley Scott and everyone was asking who the hell James Cameron was — so this is all sort of poetic in a way. Then was the story of how, in order to get him to sign on, Christian Bale made them fix the script until it was about the story and the characters and not the explosions (probably the best thing that could happen, as mindless explosions would have definitely doomed this venture). This brought about the hiring of Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight) to do some rewrites and fix it all up.
