| The Ten Best Unproduced Comic Book Movie Scripts #4: J.J. Abrams’ ‘Superman’ |
Greetings true believers. You are holding in your hands (in a manner of speaking) the fourth spectacular issue of my ongoing article series The Ten Best Unproduced Comic Book Movie Scripts. If you haven’t checked out my bloated, unwieldy nerdgasm of an introduction to the series as well as a complete week-by-week breakdown of clues to each entry on this list you may do so here. This week I have selected a screenplay that is legendary in movie and comic geek circles for the sheer amount of hatred it inspired. These days it’s quite difficult to imagine a time when the filmmaker who went from churning out hit shows on network television to being handed the keys to two of the biggest blockbuster franchises in the universe took a shot at bringing arguably the greatest superhero who ever existed and was rewarded for his under-the-gun efforts with an incalculable amount of crap. Superman by J.J. Abrams.

| McG To Direct ‘Puzzle Palace’There are some directors in the world that, whenever a new project is announced, one is automatically excited. Almodovar. Scorsese. These are just a few of the names that fit that bill. However, some directors stain any project once their name is attached, making it an uphill battle for that said piece. McG fits that specific description. And now he’s found a brand new film. THR is reporting that the horribly-monikered filmmaker will direct Puzzle Palace, based on a script from hot writer, David Guggenheim.

| Universal Drops Another Project, This Time It’s The ‘Ouija’ Movie
Universal is dump–happy lately, dropping numerous projects that they had been developing for multiple years. First was the Guillermo del Toro–directed H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, At the Mountains of Madness, which was followed by Ron Howard’s The Dark Tower, the insanely big three–film and two–season TV series adaptation of Stephen King’s book series of the same name. The studio also dumped two of its Hasbro board game movie projects not too long ago in Clue, which is being developed by Gore Verbinski, and Monopoly, which was being set up with Ridley Scott attached as a potential director. Now comes word that Universal has dropped yet another Hasbro board game project, Ouija, based of course on the popular game where kids pretend they can communicate with the dead.

Supernatural Season 1
DVD | Blu-ray
Created by: Eric Kripke
Starring: Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles
Warner Home Video
Release Date: June 15, 2010 Almost everyone who will be purchasing this Blu-ray already knows what Supernatural is about because we are now waiting for a sixth season. Well if you don’t know anything about Supernatural then you should definitely start here. A great description would be a mixture between Route 66, X-Files, and Charmed. It brings together all the best of these shows and leaves all the worst behind. It is a love letter to horror movies and family problems. There are two brothers named Dean Winchester, played by Jensen Ackles from Dark Angel, and Sam Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls, who travel across the country fighting demons and monsters. In this first season we are introduced to them and to the world of Supernatural which is also a character in itself. I say this because where you would normally expect monsters and demons to be a certain way, they are not necessarily that way in this world. Vampires are not the same, werewolves are not the same, pretty much nothing works the way we have been trained by media to believe it does.
