| ‘Wolverine 3’ Casts Stephen Merchant and Richard E. Grant
Hugh Jackman has been playing the role of Wolverine for the past 16 years. The character is the face of the X-Men film franchise, having appeared in all of the films, cameo or otherwise. He even got his own titular spinoff. The actor will, of course, be reprising his role one final time in Wolverine 3. But aside from him, Patrick Stewart was the only other actor to have a role in the film. And now it is about to add some more. | After ‘Deadpool’ Success, ‘Wolverine 3’ May Be Rated R |
 |

In many ways, Deadpool proved that a rated R comic book movie could work and be a huge success at the box office. But given that a rated R movie is generally targeted for adults (or anyone over 17), it would be hard to at least make the same amount of box office coin as let’s say The Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s not to say just because it’s a little watered down in terms of the language and violence it isn’t as good, but if you want to your film to be as successful, you have to make sure it appeals to the masses. So by making it PG-13, you are doing just that. It’s easy to see why Guardians director James Gunn might be irate with some of the comments that have been made based on Deadpool‘s success, and it’s going to be no surprise at all to see studios try to copy the same formula. Seeing as the inevitable copying is close at hand, one has to wonder if Deadpool really is the exception to the rules. But if you have watched James Mangold‘s uncut version of The Wolverine, then you have your answer. That film was better than its theatrical cut, according to fans. So based on Deadpool‘s success, it’s easy to see why Fox might be considering giving Wolverine 3 an R-rating. According to a new report, they are doing just that. Check out the full story below.

| Rumor: The Next ‘Wolverine’ Movie Could Be Based On The “Old Man Logan” Miniseries
If a rumor that was recently brought to life by Latino Review’s Umberto Gonzales – a.k.a. “El Mayimbe” – on last week’s episode of the YouTube show Marvel Movie News is to be believed, the next solo silver screen adventure of Wolverine could take the adamantium-clawed mutant superhero several decades into the future. Gonzales suggested that the Marvel Comics miniseries Wolverine: Old Man Logan, which ran for eight issues from June 2008 to September 2009, might possibly serve as the source material for Hugh Jackman‘s final on-screen solo bow as Wolverine. Check out the video below to hear Gonzales discuss the rumor. The Wolverine portion begins at 39:15.

| Sweded Trailers For 2013’s Biggest Blockbuster Films |
 |

Sometimes you can gauge the audience interest in a potential tentpole blockbuster movie simply by observing the great lengths certain individuals will go to in order to honor those big-budget entertainments, or even burn them in mocking effigy. Whenever a new trailer for one of these eagerly-anticipated features is released you can always expect there to be a “sweded” version or two uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo within days. For those of you unfamiliar with this term, “sweded” basically means a group of amateur filmmakers get together with whatever resources they can scrounge up and make their own identical version of the slicker Hollywood trailers. Some of them often use shots from the real trailers to plug in gaps in their dollar bin attempts, but the makers of the best sweded trailers will recreate every component themselves, from the visual effects to the shot composition to even the bloody generic music that underscores these 2.5-minute blasts of money shots. Submitted for your approval and enjoyment are sweded trailers for 8 of the year’s biggest blockbusters, like Star Trek Into Darkness, Pacific Rim, Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, and more. Depending on your perspective you might find some of these homemade previews better than the genuine articles. Even if you don’t, you have to admit they are pretty amusing.
