Anomalisa

A video was released recently offering a small making of peek at the upcoming stop-motion drama Anomalisa, which is written by Oscar-winning Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, and Being John Malkovich writer Charlie Kaufman, and co-directed by Kaufman and Duke Johnson, who’s known for his stop-motion TV work directing an episode of Moral Orel, the stop-motion episode of Community, and multiple episodes of Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole.

The movie follows an author on a business trip who meets a woman who might just be the escape from his increasingly boring life he’s been looking for. Hopefully the video below is just a tease of a much, much longer making of featurette we’ll get to see on the movie’s Blu-ray release.

Late Phases starring Nick Damici at SXSW

Release Date: March 9, 2014 (SXSW)

Directed by Adrian Garcia Bogliano (Here Comes the Devil), Late Phases is a low-budget werewolf flick in the vein of ’80s classics like Silver Bullet and The Howling with a Bubba Ho-Tep vibe.

Nick Damici (Stake Land) stars as Ambrose McKinley, a blind Vietnam veteran who is forced to move to a retirement community by his son (Ethan Embry, Cheap Thrills). The once-idyllic community of Crescent Bay has been plagued by a series of strange animal attacks. Something in the woods surrounding the community is killing off pets – and people go missing all the time.

On Ambrose’s first night there, his guide dog Shadow is killed by a large dog-like beast. Turns out Ambrose has moved into a retirement community for werewolves. It’s a great place to live – lots of amenities – but there are a lot of noise complaints (and dismemberments) during the full moon.

Robocop Trilogy Blu-ray

Fans of the 1987 science fiction classic RoboCop and its sequels will be excited to see that the entire RoboCop Trilogy will be released on Blu-ray this Fall.

It all started in 1987 with Paul Verhoeven‘s (Total Recall, Starship Troopers) classic tale of a good cop named Murphy who is gunned down by a gang of ruthless killers, and then transformed into a super part man/part robot cop who sets out to clean up the streets of Detroit by any means necessary.

He does his job effectively at first, but as he struggles with remnants of his past memories flashing before him and new technologies controlled by those greedy for power threatening his very existence, RoboCop’s mission will not be accomplished easily.
