| Disney Interested In Rebooting ‘Tron’ With Jared Leto As The Lead
There has been an interesting number of developments surrounding Tron lately. Most recently, Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski revealed that had Disney followed up with Tron 3, the film would have been an invasion movie from inside the machine coming out, with the first act taking place in the real world, followed by the second act which would have been set in Tron (or multiple worlds), before ending it all in the real world. While the film has been on hold, it looks like the studio may be interested in reviving the franchise once more, and this time with a new lead. According to new reports, Suicide Squad star Jared Leto is being eyed for the lead role. More on the story below.

| Garrett Hedlund Sugggests ‘Tron 3’ May Not Be Dead After AllTron 3 (rumored to be titled Tron: Ascension) was so close to production that stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde were expected to report on set in Vancouver in the Fall. However, with the disappointing box office performance of Tomorrowland, Disney decided to shut down the Tron sequel before it even entered production. Fans refused to believe that Tron 3 would never happen, and even started a petition to get it back into production. Disney didn’t even mention at the D23 Expo earlier this year if they were still considering releasing Tron 3, but for those who are still holding out on hope of it getting made, Hedlund has an optimistic outlook. According to what was told to him, the project isn’t dead, but rather Disney is still trying to find the right story. More on this below.

| ‘Tron 3’: Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde Confirmed
In the past few weeks there have been talks of Tron 3 shooting in Vancouver this fall. The tentatively titled Tron: Ascension will bring back Joseph Kosinski as director. While reports suggested that Garrett Hedlund would be returning to reprise his role as Sam Flynn, it was unclear if Olivia Wilde would be returning. At the end of Tron: Legacy, it was revealed that her character, Quorra, had made it out of The Grid, and transferred herself into the real world. Now a new report says that she is signed on to appear, and also confirms that Hedlund is on board for the sequel as well. While some may have doubted the sequel even happening, it appears that Tron 3 is on, though we have yet to hear of a confirmation from the Disney themselves. Hit the jump for more.
