Percy Jackson & the Olympians

Up until now, we had only seen a mediocre teaser trailer for Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, but now the first full trailer is online and it definitely gives you a better idea of what the movie is looking to become.

The movie is directed by Chris Columbus, who also directed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This is fitting, as The Lightning Thief has a definite Harry Potter vibe to it, only instead of wizardry, we have Greek mythology. It’s definitely aimed at a teen/family audience, but also looks like it could be a lot of fun for all ages. The story follows a teenage boy who discovers that he is the son of god of the sea, Poseidon, and has to help to locate the lightning bolt of Zeus before a war breaks out amongst the gods.

‘Kill Bill 3’ Still A Long Way Off; Quentin Tarantino To Do A Western Or Gangster Movie

Q.T.

At the end of last week, Quentin Tarantino proclaimed that there was definitely room for a Kill Bill Vol. 3 in the world (Read: Is Quentin Tarantino Armed & Ready To Make “˜Kill Bill 3,’ Possibly 4?). Naturally, when the highly-popular director makes claims like this, his fans go absolutely insane, but have trouble knowing if there’s truth to it, or if it’s just talking in the moment. Whether we actually get to see Kill Bill 3 or not, one thing is now known for sure: it is still a long, long ways off.

While in Mexico promoting his latest film, Inglourious Basterds, at the Morelia Film Festival, Tarantino went ahead and confirmed his hopes to make more Kill Bill movies. This is a great sign that he was being truthful, and that we will one day see the movie. But when? He went on to explain that his plan is to give star Uma Thurman and her Bride character’s daughter B.B. (Perla Haney-Jardine) ten years to recover before getting back to the cutting, hacking, and slashing. This would sadly put us in around the year 2014 before we saw the sequel. It also means that we will very likely get the storyline where Vernita Greene’s (Vivica A. Fox) daughter comes after the Bride for killing her mother, and young B.B. will now be deadly dangerous herself, setting up a battle between daughters.

Ever since fan-favorite director Quentin Tarantino made Kill Bill, there’s been whispers every once in a great while that there could be more to the Bride’s (Uma Thurman) story. The obvious remaining story would follow Vernita Green’s (Vivica A. Fox) daughter, who Beatrix told to come find her when she grows up, and that is one of the two that have been rumored.

While on a talk show in Italy, Tarantino was asked about any possible sequels to Inglourious Basterds or Pulp Fiction that we might see. He answered that Basterds has a prequel story that could happen eventually, and that Pulp Fiction isn’t going to happen. Tarantino then turned the tables to the woman interviewing him and told her she forgot to ask whether he would do a Kill Bill 3, so she did, and he answered “Yes,” as the crowd went nutty. No one knows how serious he is about it, or when it could happen, but it looks like the story is there. After his promise of a one year delivery of Basterds actually happened, we have about a 50/50 shot of this going down.

‘Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Lightning Thief’ Teaser Trailer

Lightning Thief

The first teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone director Chris Columbus‘s new movie, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief has been released online, and it looks fairly interesting. The property is the first of a new possible franchise based on the five-book Percy Jackson & The Olympians series. It follows a young boy who discovers that he’s the half-human son of the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon. This sets off an adventure that sees him trying to save his mother while attempting to locate the stolen lightning bolt of Zeus, and even trying to prevent a war among the gods.

The trailer is just a teaser and doesn’t show much, but what you do see is compelling. To sum it up, we see the young boy Percy Jackson (played by Logan Lerman) enters the Empire State Building in New York City and presses a mysterious Omega symbol button in the elevator. This brings him up as high as it will go before magically shooting through the top of the building in a beam of light, and bringing him to the base of Mount Olympus itself.

Yes indeed, ladies and gentlemen, fans of the original Batman films can now run out and purchase the entire four-movie set on good ol’ Blu-ray.

Since Christopher Nolan took over and re-invented the way we see Batman cinematically, most have forgotten about these original films — some, understandably so. While these movies aren’t as highly-praised as the new ones, they do, and will always have a place in comic and superhero movie fans’ hearts.

First and most importantly, keep in mind that this new release is Blu-ray, so no matter how many times you’ve seen the movies, you haven’t seen them at this quality level. Love them or hate them, they do look really great in Blu.

I highly doubt there are people out there who aren’t familiar with these movies and what goes on in them, so instead, I’ll simply talk briefly on each one and why ultimately, it’s worth picking up this set.

The first and the best known of the bunch is the original — Batman. Batman was one of the first big comic book superheroes to successfully grace the silver screen. Since then, as you all know, comic book properties have exploded into money-making machines. Very few properties remain as just publications.
