The GoD List

Each and every week “JUDO CHOPPIN” MK2Fac3 and “KUNG FU KICKIN” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 8, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

You guys, I’m so sleepy. I can’t begin to explain how tired and exhausted I am. I haven’t been able to read but a handful of comics over the past month, and honestly, it’s a little difficult to keep up with all the comics that come out each week. And you know, I’m sure some of you might be having similar problems as well. If that’s the case, then have I got good news for you! We here at Geeks of Doom provide a weekly service in which we tell you all the comics we’re looking forward to! And we’ve got some absolutely fantastic comics coming out this week. If you’re having comics problems, I feel bad for you, son. I got 99 problems, but The GoD List ain’t one.

As a reader of Blue Estate from the start I have seen this series develop piece after piece of an intricate puzzle, and Blue Estate #8 is no exception. As the body count grows in Blue Estate, so do the stakes. Blue Estate #8 puts a price on the head of just about everyone in it and leaves you as the reader feeling that no one is safe. This issue has significantly less action than previous installments, but provides groundwork for the inevitable crime spree that is sure to come.

Ever since I began reading Blue Estate it’s felt like with each new issue I’ve been holding my breath waiting for a lull in action or dialogue, or anything to give me a moment’s rest. Since issue #1, Blue Estate has been delivering a virtually unending line of pulp action and Blue Estate #6: Point of No Return is no exception. From the start, creator Viktor Kalvachev and his five-man team have made it their personal mission to drag us as readers down into the literal hell that is Los Angeles on the brink of a gang war. In Blue Estate #6 we are introduced and reacquainted with some of L.A’s worst, but instead of pulling us out of the cesspool, Blue Estate grabs us by the throat and yanks us in deeper.

Pherone is a story about a woman named Eve [no relation to our very own Empress] who was trained as a killer to take on various missions and then at the end forget all about it until the word “pherone” is spoken. This is achieved by using a drug that is injected into the operative’s neck. Eve always has the same cover of being an escort on her missions. When the target is getting ready for a night of passion, Eve is getting ready to torture and kill the person for information requested by her handler, a man named Simon. Not only we do we see Eve’s side of the story, but we see the side of the story from the police detectives who are investigating the deaths of Eve’s victims and who come so close to catching her only to have her slip away.
