Age of Ultron

So, Brian Michael Bendis finally left The Avengers to take on the daunting task of making a good X-Men book, something that hasn’t happened in years, even with Matt Fraction’s best efforts. We all knew that wasn’t all he’s up to right? Well with the announcement of Age of Ultron we now have a better idea of why he had to leave all of those Avengers books. The Age of Ultron appears to be another of his Marvel Universe sweeping epic story arcs. It all starts in March with a little help from Bryan Hitch (Ultimates, Fantastic Four), Carlos Pacheco (Uncanny X-Men), and Brandon Peterson (AvX: VS).

In this 10-issue story, Ultron, a powerful robot created by Hank Pym, has devastated the world and taken control of nearly all of Earth’s heroes. An eclectic group of “resistance fighters” is all that’s left to try and defeat Ultron and save the day including Invisible Woman, Taskmaster, Beast, Emma Frost, She-Hulk, Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Moon Knight. Marvel of course promises that “the reverberations will be felt in every corner of the Marvel Universe, leaving no hero or villain unscathed.”

Later, Greg dives into the scene of the UK Thrash Metal movement, and with the release of the documentary A History Of A Time To Come directed by Josh Callis-Smith, we play "A Cautionary Tale" by metal legends Sabbat.

Later in the show, we take a look at the official synopsis of Star Trek Into Darkness, and speculate on who the villain may be that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing. We also take a look at the news surrounding Hugh Jackman being in talks for the upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past, where the worlds of First Class and the original X-Men movie collide.

Hugh Jackman In Talks To Return As Wolverine In ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

Wolverine

Losing previous director Matthew Vaughn – possibly to Star Wars Episode VII – has not slowed down development on X-Men: Days of Future Past one bit. Shortly after Vaughn’s departure Bryan Singer, a producer on the Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class, signed on to direct his first X-Men film since 2003’s X2. Then just yesterday Singer confirmed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen would be re-entering the franchise as the older Professor X and his friend and nemesis Magneto.

One of the remaining question marks surrounding the casting of Days of Future Past would be whether or not Hugh Jackman would also be joining the ever-growing ensemble cast. He’s become the X-Men franchise’s star player and good luck charm so it should come as no surprise to anyone that Jackman is now in negotiations to return as Wolverine.

Bryan Singer X-Men Image

Recently we found out that X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn was walking away from the sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past. At the time, it was said that the name at the top of Twentieth Century Fox’s list to replace Vaughn, was none other than X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer.

Now comes word that Singer has indeed been confirmed for the movie, having just finalized a deal with Fox. The roles look as if they’ll be reversed, as well, as Vaughn is near a deal that would allow him to at least produce the sequel, along with Lauren Shuler Donner and writer Simon Kinberg.
