Despite an underwhelming box office performance, Fox continues to move forward with their X-Men franchise. Logan looks to be very promising, and Deadpool 2 is currently in the works. But the future of the main X-Men saga is still not clear. The sequel currently has no director tapped for the helm. But even with no creative heads are in place yet, Sophie Turner, who played Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, says that the next film is expected to start shooting this year.

Watch the extended Super Bowl TV spot here below for the upcoming Twentieth Center Fox sequel starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Patrick Stewart as X-Men‘s Professor X.

In just a couple of weeks Fox will air their quasi-X-Men spinoff TV series, Legion. The show, starring Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza, does not take place in the same universe as the one seen in the film franchise.

However, the one being created by Matt Nix (Burn Notice) does. The untitled show will center on a world where people hate mutants and sentinels exist. Now it’s been announced that a pilot for that show has been ordered, and more details are coming out about it along with confirmation that longtime X-Men film director Bryan Singer will helm the pilot. It’s hard enough to figure out the X-Men film continuity without factoring in the First Class trilogy, and its attempt to reset the timeline with Days of Future Past. But with spinoffs like Wolverine and Deadpool existing within the same universe, the filmmakers have to be conscious of the events of other films. That may hinder the creative process for some, but for James Mangold‘s Logan, he is sidestepping all of that, so to speak, by creating an alternate timeline. While that may be confusing to some, Hugh Jackman believes Mangold had a very good reason for making that decision.

20th Century Fox has released a second trailer for Logan, the latest and said to be final (unless there’s a change of heart at some point) Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman in the title role.

The first trailer released in October focused mainly on Logan. This new trailer focuses more on the young girl we’ve seen hanging out with old man Logan and Professor X (Patrick Stewart). As Xavier says to Wolverine: “She’s like you. Very much like you.”
