No one loves reboots more than Hollywood. Whether it be a recently released foreign film, or a classic and beloved franchise, reboots are the hot thing with the studios, and it doesn’t look to be changing. The latest one on the block? Short Circuit.
Deadline is reporting that Dimension is currently working on a deal with director Tim Hill remake the beloved cult 1986 film, which follows the story of a robot built to be a weapon, but is given a great sense of intelligence. After becoming friends with a family, the robot must flee the pursuit of the military looking to get back their property.
Dimension had looked to get the remake off the ground all the way back in 2009 with director Steve Carr and writer Dan Milano attached, but since then, news surrounding the project has been quiet. I’m not hugely hopeful about this remake, but then again, I’m one of the few people who don’t actually find the original film to be all that entertaining. What do you think?
