Over the weekend Dimension Films brought their all-star comic book noir sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For to the San Diego Comic-Con for a panel with director Robert Rodriguez, Sin City creator/writer/artist Frank Miller, and several of the film’s stars in attendance. In addition to the celebrity presence some new footage was screened, including an extended red band trailer.
That trailer is now online for all to behold. You can watch it here below.
Early trailers and clips have gone soft on the sex and violence we’ve come to expect from a Sin City movie, but the Comic-Con preview gives us plenty of the juicy stuff and then some. Visually the film seems dated now, though it should look fantastic in all its gory glory in 3D. The men are tough, the women tougher, everyone’s out to kill one or more people, and Eva Green spends most of the trailer in her birthday suit (and it’s not exactly her birthday, if you know what I mean, and I think you do).
Dame to Kill For‘s narrative looks to jump back and forth in time seeing as how Marv (Mickey Rourke) is back even though he died in the first movie and Dwight is also here albeit looking more like Josh Brolin than Clive Owen (not a recasting situation – Dwight had a much different face prior to the Big Fat Kill story).
Also returning from the original are Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jamie King, Powers Boothe, and Jessica Alba, and they join newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta, Lady Gaga, and Stacy Keach. Jamie Chung replaces Devon Aoki as the silent samurai Miho, while Dennis Haysbert steps in for the late Michael Clarke Duncan as underworld heavy Manute.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens in 2D and 3D on August 22, 2014.
