Michael Dougherty‘s 2008 cult classic horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat (which, I must confess, I still haven’t seen yet) has finally been sequelized, sort of. To promote its upcoming Trick ‘r Treat marathon, Fearnet commissioned a short from Dougherty called “Making Friends” for the occasion.
You can watch the video here below.
“Making Friends” is about two minutes long and focuses on a boy who decides to play Frankenstein in order to create a friend to go trick or treating with, with a little help from Sam, the diminutive creep who acts as the vengeful spirit of Halloween (played in the original film by Quinn Lord). The short is gruesome, but sweet-natured with a lovely score by Dead Man’s Bones and Douglas Pipes and strong make-up effects from Todd Masters.
Dougherty previously did a Back To School spot back in September in promotion of movie the marathon.
Fearnet’s All Day Trick ‘R Treat Marathon airs on Halloween, Monday October 31, 2011.
