After bringing in over $350 million in worldwide box office, it’s no surprise that 20th Century Fox wants to make a sequel to X-Men: First Class.
Now comes word via SuperHeroHype that Simon Kinberg has been chosen to pen the script for the sequel. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who wrote First Class, were recently tapped to write the screenplay for a Top Gun sequel, which may be one of the reasons new blood was brought in.
Kinberg, who acted as a producer on First Class, has plenty of action movie writing experience. His previous works include xXx: State of the Union, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Sherlock Holmes, and the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It won’t be his first X-Men job, either, as he was one of the writers on X-Men: The Last Stand.
At the moment, there’s no word on if director Matthew Vaughn or which actors will be returning for the sequel, but it’s assumed that most will be.
