Make Your Voice Heard As Part Of A Worldwide Chant In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Famed composer Hans Zimmer is returning to Gotham City for his third straight time to provide the musical voice of the Batman franchise for next summer’s The Dark Knight Rises, and now he has a way for Bat-fans around the world to be a part of the film’s sonic tapestry.
The website Ujam, a place for people to create their own music, is hosting in conjunction with Zimmer and Warner Bros. a special chance for people to record their voices as part of a “worldwide chant” the composer is creating for the upcoming comic book blockbuster.
Nothing is known yet about how this particular chant will fit into the movie’s grand scheme of things, but given that the advertising materials and spy photos and videos have been hinting at an epic battle with globe-spanning roots that will practically bring Gotham crumbling to the earth, it does at least make sense in terms of plot.
Here’s the introduction to the new feature, in the words of Hans Zimmer himself:
“I’m shining the bat-signal up into the sky to call you all! We need to hear your voices! Now and Loud! We are creating the sound of a worldwide chant. Everyone come and be part of it. It’s easy: There is no such thing as out-of-tune, no timing we can’t fix later. If you mumble, growl, scream or whisper, it’s all good. Make it yours. If you only get halfway through, no problem! Do it alone, bring your friends, but do it with energy and commitment. Let your voice be heard and be a part of our adventure!”
You can head over to Ujam right now and record your chant for the film.
The practice of crowd-sourcing audio for films is nothing new: attendees at the Tron: Legacypanel at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con were able to have their voices recorded by microphones scattered around the room and mixed together to create a stadium of screaming fans for the movie’s “Game Grid” scene.
Zimmer won’t be re-teaming with James Newton Howard, his collaborator on the first two Bat-films directed by Christopher Nolan, which could have major implications for the tone of The Dark Knight Rises. For Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Zimmer handled the darker and action-driven side of the music score while Howard was devoted to the softer, emotional cues. Granted, Zimmer has proven himself more than capable of both in the past (Inception is his solo masterpiece as a composer), but could this mean that Batman’s apocalyptic confrontation with Bane and the League of Shadows will be one long and unforgiving rollercoaster ride in the bowels of Hell?
hahaha, I totally hope so, too! Â Zimmer is definitely one of my favorite film composers, and I have no doubt he’s got the chops to work solo on this and give the film the dark tone it needs.
So excited for July!

Zimmer usually does such great work, but I think Nolan is holding him back. The music from these Batman movies and Inception are way too generic. You can hardly tell a difference between the soundtracks.
Danny Elfman at least created a memorable theme tune for Batman that was even used in the classic 90’s cartoon.
It is unfortunate that Zimmer is doing the Superman sound track as well. As it will be as generic as this, with no memorable theme for superman.
A shame really as Zimmer is usually great.
