One album on Amazon’s $5 MP3 Album Deals list which really stands out for me is The Band’s Greatest Hits.

Most of the tracks on Greatest Hits are taken from The Band‘s first four albums: Music From Big Pink, The Band, Stage Fright, and Cahoots and features the songs “Rag Mama Rag,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” and “Ophelia.”

The Band is not normally the kind of group you will read about here at Geeks of Doom, but I encourage people to listen to them whenever I get the chance. Their catalogue of songs is each beautifully constructed by expert musicians and played a big part in influencing country rock bands like The Eagles.

If you don’t know where to start with The Band, this 18-track greatest hits package is a great place to begin. The $5 price is only valid until November 30, 2011 11:59pm PST so check it out before then. If you’d like to purchase a physical copy, the CD version is only $8.77.
