Now that Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall is scheduled for summer release next year, production for the film is shortly getting underway. The cast, however, continues to grow. Recently John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Morris Chestnut, and Robert Emms all have been cast in key roles, but Universal is looking to add another big name to the casting sheet.
Deadline says that the studio has been courting Jim Carrey for a “showy” supporting role in the film. According to the site, Carrey would play The Colonel, a hero who “helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil.”
The actor is apparently a huge fan of Matthew Vaughn and his original Kick-Ass film. He even showed is fandom by sporting the same green and yellow wetsuit that Aaron Johnson wore in the first film while performing a musical act with Conan O’Brien (you can see that photo below). Although Vaughn won’t be directing the film – that task has been given to Jeff Waldow – he will be acting as a producer.
Should Carrey be cast in the film, he would join Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Nicolas Cage, all of whom would be reprising their respective roles. Based on the character name alone, Carrey would likely be leading the heroes of the newly formed Justice Forever gang as they combat The Mother Fucker (formerly known as Red Mist) and his gang of villains.
Again, this is just something that Universal would like to see happen. Hopefully we will be hearing of confirmation of Carrey’s casting soon. I certainly like the idea of an eccentric and funny actor like Carrey joining the sequel.
Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall is scheduled to open in theaters on June 28, 2012.
What do you think about the possibility of Jim Carrey joining the cast of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall?

What happen to the Colonel in the book might leave some people disturbed.
