Mark Millar Wanted A Hit-Girl Movie With ‘The Raid’ Director Gareth Evans

Mark Millar, the comic book scribe who created the series the Kick-Ass movies were based on, revealed recently that he had discuss the possibility of a solo Hit-Girl movie with Welsh action filmmaker Gareth Evans (The Raid). Played by Chloë Grace Moretz in the 2010 original directed by Matthew Vaughn and its inferior 2013 sequel, Kick-Ass 2, Hit-Girl was by far the breakout character of the little superhero franchise that almost was.
The idea of making a spin-off with the foul-mouthed teenage vigilante was taken seriously by Millar and Evans briefly.

Chloe Moretz Blames Piracy For Killing ‘Kick Ass 3’

Chloe Moretz had a few starring gigs before she became a household name thanks to Kick-Ass. Director Matthew Vaughn’s bubble gum pop adaptation of the comic of the same name was a massive cult hit, but it took a few years before we got to see a sequel. As the time it took to get a sequel took longer, Moretz got older, and soon that young Hit-Girl spouting out obscenities would lose its luster. Then came word that Vaughn wouldn’t return to direct Kick-Ass 2. By the time the sequel came out it was panned by critics, and the film was a huge flop at the box office.
Now Moretz is confirming that chances of seeing Kick-Ass 3 are dead, and she blames it on those who pirated the second entry. Hit the jump for more.

Blake Northcott’s 3 Hottest #NCBD Picks For October 30, 2013

My name is Blake Northcott, and I have a comic book addiction.
And Image Comics is to blame.
It seems like every Wednesday, an Image title forces me to jump in my car and race to the comic book store, shotgunning Red Bulls while ignoring stoplights and pedestrians along the way. The action/drama set in an all-too-realistic dystopian future, Lazarus, is on my pull list. Breakthrough artist of the year Jon ‘Roc’ Upchurch makes newcomer Rat Queens a monthly must-read. Matt Fraction’s Sex Criminals is one of the most unique books I’ve read in years. And Mark Millar’s Jupiter’s Legacy has become a personal obsession (with issue #3 being the single best issue of any comic I’ve read in 2013).
With that, here’s my 3 hottest New Comic Book Day picks for October 30, 2013.

SDCC 2013: ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Panel With Extended NSFW Trailer

Kick-Ass 2 is coming out in about a month, but that doesn’t mean the film’s producers can’t get the word out to fans at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The director Jeff Wadlow, as well as the creators of the comic, Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. along with actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Lindy Booth, Donald Faison, and John Leguizamo all appeared on the panel in Hall H today. And they brought some all-new footage with them.
Some of the footage from the film showed off Kick-Ass getting into better shape as well as revealing to his friend that he is the famous hero. Taylor-Johnson spoke about how both he and Chloe Grace-Moretz, who made an appearance at the beginning of the panel via satellite from a remote location, had both grown so much since the first movie, and how that affects the new movie.

Marvel Wants Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Kick Ass As Quicksilver In ‘Avengers 2’

Marvel Studios is rumored to be courting Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Anna Karenina) for the role of Quicksilver in Joss Whedon‘s tentatively titled The Avengers 2.
Taylor-Johnson, who reprises the title role in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall, most recently starred in Oliver Stone’s Savages as well as Joe Wright’s adaptation of Anna Karenina.
There’s no confirmation that Taylor-Johnson has landed the role, but we’ll known soon enough as it’s likely the roles of Quicksilver and his sister, Scarlet Witch, will be filled out in time for a big announcement at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Jeff Wadlow‘s Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters on August 16th, but you don’t have to wait that long to see some crazy balls-to-the-wall action. I was browsing the director’s Vimeo page today when I stumbled upon this brand new clip from the film.
Check out the clip here below!

‘Kick-Ass 2’ Red-Band Trailer: Try To Have Fun, Otherwise What’s The Point?
|
 |

Kick-Ass started a new generation of heroes who possess no superhuman powers but the passion to project the city. It may not have been the box office smash Lionsgate hoped it would be, but it made just enough for a sequel to be green lit. The thing is, Lionsgate isn’t behind this film any more, nor is the film’s first director Matthew Vaughn. Instead, Universal Pictures will distribute Kick-Ass 2, with Never Back Down director Jeff Wadlow steering the ship.
By the looks of the new trailer that has popped up, things haven’t changed for Aaron Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Johnson still plays Kick-Ass, a hero with semi-delusions of grandeur. Moretz plays Hit Girl, a hostile teenager, who acts much older than her age. Their actions have inspired the people of the city to become heroes like them. But Mintz-Plasse’s Mother F***er plans to take revenge on the two heroes who took his crime lord father’s life, by assembling the most bad ass super villains in the city.
Did I forget to mention that Jim Carrey has a role in this film? Hit the jump to see the red-band trailer.

Boy Wonder
Netflix Streaming
DVD
Directed by Michael Morrissey
Starring Caleb Steinmeyer, Zulay Henao, James Russo, Bill Sage, Tracy Middendorf
Inception Media Group
Originally Released: August 12, 2010
As geeks, we’ve often posed the question: “What if someone really tried to do what Batman does?” The Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy affixed a gritty, yet epic realism to the concept of The Batman, and Kick-Ass gives us a look at a teenager having a shot at being a superhero… but neither is rooted in the darker nature of reality. Enter: Boy Wonder – in spite of its name, the indie film is essentially a vigilante revenge movie, but takes on the concept of a teenager taking on board vigilante justice, without costumes and without the resources of one Mr. Bruce Wayne of the 1%.
Penned and directed by Michael Morrissey, Boy Wonder tells the story of Sean Donovan, a brooding teenager portrayed by Caleb Steinmeyer, who from all appearances is a quiet, isolate teenager striving to do well at school. Yet behind the daytime mask, Donovan carries the weight of being witness to the murder of his mother when he was a younger boy.

‘Dawn Of The Dead’ Star Lindy Booth Joins The Cast Of ‘Kick-Ass 2’

Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall will be the next big superhero movie to feature a large gathering of heroes stopping crime.
John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Morris Chestnut and Robert Emms will be joining Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz to thwart crime and evil and stop the Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) dead in his tracks. News that Jim Carrey was being courted to join the cast as The Colonel, the leader of Justice Forever, was pretty big. So its time to take it down a few notches.
According to reports, Lindy Booth is in negotiations to play Night Bitch, a once normal girl who decides to become a hero herself after she finds out that her sister has been murdered.

Now that Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall is scheduled for summer release next year, production for the film is shortly getting underway. The cast, however, continues to grow. Recently John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Morris Chestnut, and Robert Emms all have been cast in key roles, but Universal is looking to add another big name to the casting sheet.
