Is WB Seeking Christian Bale To Star In ‘Justice League’ With Christopher Nolan Producing, Zack Snyder Directing?

Justice League

Last we had heard in regard to Justice League, Warner Brothers was waiting to see how Zack Snyder‘s Superman flick Man of Steel performed before making a decision. And as for Batman, director and star of the Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, were both done with that franchise and moving on.

But, if a new report is to be believed, Warners doesn’t want to let that proven tag-team cash cow escape so easily, and has plans for all of them to be involved with the Justice League movie.

According to Latino Review, Nolan has completely taken over any DC Comics-related projects set up at WB to godfather/produce in the same way he did Man of Steel.

They also say the studio is basically hell bent on getting Bale back to star as Batman alongside Henry Cavill‘s Superman in the Justice League movie, because they need to compete with Disney’s juggernaut that was The Avengers and its upcoming sequel, and also Star Wars Episode VII. This despite the finality that came with The Dark Knight Rises, where Nolan even wrote a lengthy farewell to the franchise. Then again, Bale did say if Nolan was involved he wouldn’t be closed to another go as the Bat Man.

Latino Review adds that Snyder could also be a producer on the Justice League movie, with the possibility of directing. It was recently revealed that Nolan’s next movie would be Interstellar, so luring him back to actually helm Justice League would prove tricky.

None of this is confirmed yet, of course, but it all makes plenty of sense: if Warner Brothers does want to try and compete with what Disney is doing, they would need people like Nolan and Bale involved. You can’t recast Batman now and expect the same colossal box office numbers the Dark Knight trilogy threw down.

Interest in a Justice League movie doesn’t feel all that high, but if it were to be confirmed that both Nolan and Bale were involved, one has to assume all of that would change.

Would you be more excited for WB’s Justice League if you knew Christopher Nolan was godfathering/producing it and Christian Bale was again starring as Bruce Wayne/Batman?

Less excited, actually. Speaking as a huge fan of Batman and Justice League comics, the Nolan Batman does not belong in the Justice League. The Batman movie franchise should be rebooted first.

  2. I really enjoyed the Nolan Batman movies, but like the previous comment, that Batman does not belong in the Justice League. I am rather looking forward to a Batman reboot. I would like to see the dark and gritty feel again but in a more “comic book” setting. Something set in a world that Batman is established in. We don’t need another origin movie. People know how Batman came to be. I would really like a Batman that has a primary villain in the movie, but other villains are seen or referenced throughout. Something like a more scaled down Arkham video game. I can easily enjoy another actor as Bruce Wayne/Batman if it’s done right.
