The New Ghostbusters #2 continues the adventures of a VERY different team of Ghostbusters. Thankfully, there’s no giant monkeys. Wow, Erik Burnham. Just wow. I can’t remember when a comic has been so consistently entertaining and not dropped in quality. And, I might add, keep its monthly schedule. This is FANTASTIC!!! I still can’t believe that month in and month out, I ACTUALLY laugh out loud at some of the gags and one-liners. Congratulations, Mr. Burnham. That never happens with any other book. This issue is no exception to that rule. Along with The New Ghostbusters, we also get a new supporting cast. Some of them are familiar, some not, but they’re all great. Just like last issue, we get the main adventure focusing on the new team, with a little bit of the classic Ghostbusters thrown in for good measure. Both stories are moved forward at a great pace, nothing rushed or forced, and everything comes to a great and suspenseful stopping point at the issues end.

| Martin Scorsese, Nathan Fillion, Simon Pegg Join ‘World War Z’ Expanded Audio Book Cast |

No doubt intended to coincide with the forthcoming summer release of the troubled big-budget movie with Brad Pitt, the audio book adaptation of Max Brooks‘ best-selling horror classic World War Z is getting an expanded release this year, and the project is attracting some major celebrity names to the fold – including a few surprises. World War Z: The Complete Edition will include five more hours of stories from Brooks’ highly influential book that has been considered to be one of the greatest stories of apocalyptic zombie terror ever told. Among the new cast members lending their voices to this unabridged version will be actor and rapper Common (American Gangster), actor Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), writer-director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), Firefly/Castle star Nathan Fillion, actor/screenwriter Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead), and most surprisingly of all, Oscar-winner and filmmaking giant Martin Scorsese.

Hoax Hunters #8 continues its fun, entertaining, and interesting story that has both features of a stand alone AND continuity, something rarely seen in today’s comic market. Writers Michael Moreci & Steve Seeley wrap up a Hoax Hunters mystery this issue and set the stage for upcoming story lines. My guy reaction is that this story should’ve been wrapped up maybe a little bit sooner. I read Hoax Hunters on a monthly basis and I have to say, I was almost lost by the time this story was finished. I think if there were maybe a few LESS supporting characters, and maybe an issue less of this particular story arc, it would’ve been a lot more enjoyable. Understand, by no means am I saying that it’s a bad comic, far from it, I just think that this shouldn’t have maybe dragged on as long as it did.
