It took years of wondering whether director Robert Rodriguez would ever deliver the long-rumored sequel to 2005’s Sin City before the follow-up, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, was officially announced and began casting last year.
Fans waited a long, long time for that official announcement, and now they’re going to unfortunately have to wait a significant chunk of time longer. The next Sin City was originally scheduled for release on October 4, 2013, and that was exciting. But now comes word that The Weinstein Company has pushed the release date back to August 22, 2014.
This is the second movie based on the graphic novels of Frank Miller (who’s co-directing A Dame to Kill For with Rodriguez) that’s been delayed recently. The 300 sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire, was originally set for release this August but has since been pushed back to March 7, 2014.
Rodriguez’s other sequel, Machete Kills, is still on course for its September 13, 2013 release date.
