After many months of speculation, the BBC announced today that their next Doctor for the long-loved Doctor Who will be none other than the brilliant Peter Capaldi. The reveal has been perhaps the most positive announcement for the BBC and Doctor Who in its entire 50-year history, with only small amounts of criticism being drowned out by the praise from fans online.
During TARDISblend 67, we are joined by special guest Andrew Sorcini of The Drill Down, and we discuss our reactions to the announcement, and the potential we face in future episodes. We also examine what is to come involving Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, David Tennant, and John Hurt in the 50th Anniversary and Christmas Specials.
Later, Andy also gives us the rundown of his Doctor Who experiences at San Diego Comic-Con, including some of the reveals surrounding An Adventure In Space And Time! All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!
Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from The BLENDOVER Podcast) and geek journalist Tom Cheredar of VentureBeat, TARDISblend is a podcast that takes a look at the ongoing adventures in the Doctor Who Universe – as Matt Smith concludes his journey as the Eleventh Doctor, and Peter Capaldi makes his beginnings as the next Doctor!
So, yes! I’m so excited for Capaldi’s take on The Doctor. I think he will bring gravitas and hearken back to the roots of Who, being an older Doctor. And as far as the fangirls go – the real fans know we fangirl The Doctor, not the actor.

Hi Guys, Scotland Calling. TransmatTrev here again.
Great to hear you guys back on air.
I’m personally chuffed to hear that Peter is number 12.
Wonderful that another Weejy (Glaswegian) is driving the Type 40, .but apparently after Christmas we’re not going to see the Blue Box anymore. Presuming the Doctor is going to fix the camelion circuit?
By the way Greg, I’m so glad that you have decided to hang with your podcast ‘cos as you know, things are going to get really exciting in for the 50th and season (series) 8.
In the meantime I look forward to your return in November….Enjoy :)
