| After ‘Independence Day 2’ Roland Emmerich Wants To Make A Rebooted ‘Stargate’ Trilogy
We’ve heard plenty about Roland Emmerich‘s work to make Independence Day 2 happen and trying to get Will Smith to return to star, but Emmerich is already looking beyond that. In a recent interview, the director talked about how he’d also like to reboot Stargate and make a new trilogy out of it. Stargate was originally co-created by Emmerich and Dean Devlin, who also worked with Roland on Godzilla, The Patriot, and the past and future Independence Day flicks. The first movie was released in 1994 starring Kurt Russell and James Spader. After the movie numerous TV series, video games, and an animated series followed.

Warner Brothers and DC Comics had taken the first steps to building their DC Cinematic Universe franchise with Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel. While the film did produce mixed results, it grossed more than enough for WB to plan out the future for other DC properties. Just a few weeks ago, we confirmed that Ben Affleck was cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the sequel, currently known as Batman vs. Superman. Little is known about the film itself, but what we do know is that Batman will be in it, and as the rumored title suggests, it’s likely that these two heroes will fight against each other at some point in the movie. But how will all of that look? Well that’s for Larry Fong to decide as he has been rumored to have been brought in to work on the cinematography for the film.

Briefly: Since being confirmed to return to direct another installment of the G.I. Joe movie franchise, Jon M. Chu has been hard at work finding a writer to come up with a script for the film. That search has ended with Chu choosing Snow White and the Huntsman writer Evan Daughtery. Daughtery may not be a household name, but he is climbing up the ranks. Aside from writing Huntsman, the screenwriter has also penned the scripts for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot for Paramount and Platinum Dunes, the upcoming Divergent starring Shailene Woodley, and the De Niro/Travolta starring vehicle Killing Season.

Okay, this is getting out of hand. There are so many awesome Kickstarter campaigns that I’m going to be broke from supporting them. That said, here at Geeks Of Doom we try to shine the spotlight on some of the most impactful and impressive ones out there. Lilith Dark and The Beastie Tree is just such a project. I read the Kickstarter page and immediately signed up as a backer (number 101 if you must know). I’m a huge believer in paying it forward and Charles Dowd is doing just that. “CDowd” once took his little girl to the comic shop and found nothing for her or her age group, so rather than ranting and raving he decided to put his skills to work. And with that Lilith Dark was created, a tough lass with a hatred of meatloaf! And who doesn’t hate meatloaf, you know? It’s a lump of ground beef with lord knows what inside of it covered in ketchup (or blood if you have an overactive imagination; no don’t ask). Luckily, Lilith has a dinosaur who is all too happy to consume said meatloaf — dinos are tough, you know? But enough about the meatloaf, Lilith has more worries than just at dinner time. Of course, a lot of these worries stemming from her imagination. That, and the spooky tree across the street where she discovered monsters.
