Patrick Stewart, Sunny Ozell married

Sir Patrick Stewart, best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation, married his longtime girlfriend Sunny Ozell in a ceremony officiated by the actor’s X-Men co-star, Sir Ian McKellen.

The 73-year-old Stewart took to Twitter on September 8, 2013 to break the news of his nuptials, posting “Yes, married” along with a photo of himself with his new bride, smiling and buried neck-deep in a multicolored ball pit.

McKellen, who previously performed a civil partnership for two men, posted today to his Facebook page “I did my part,” along with a photo of himself holding up a certificate and a black t-shirt with the words “Minister” on it. Back in March, the actor revealed his role in Stewart’s wedding plans.

Star Trek: The Original Series

Happy 47th anniversary to Star Trek! On September 8, 1966, the very first regular television episode of the series, created by Gene Roddenberry, premiered on NBC.

The episode that marks this anniversary is called “The Man Trap,” which introduced the world to the bridge crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise: William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk; Leonard Nimoy as First Officer Mr. Spock, DeForest Kelley as Dr. McCoy, George Takei as Sulu, and Nichelle Nichols as Uhura. Though other installments for the series had been produced and contained events that came before, “The Man Trap” was actually the first regular episode of the series to air on television.

You can watch the episode right now through Amazon’s Instant Video; you can also view it on the Season 1 Blu-ray or DVD.

Also, if you want more Star Trek (and you totally should), Amazon is having a Star Trek DVD/Blu-ray Sale right now where you can get all the movies for discounted prices.

Because, Awesome: Absolutely Insane Live-Action ‘Mirror’s Edge’ Parkour Video

The Movie God   |  @   |

Mirror's Edge Image

Mirror’s Edge is a popular first-person freerunning game from developer DICE. A long awaited sequel was teased at E3 this summer. The game is a parkour practitioner’s dream, as it involves running freely on city rooftops high above. A location freerunners can’t usually experience because, for one, it’s crazy dangerous and one slip means your death, and two, because real life buildings aren’t designed like a video game so you can transition from one to the next smoothly.

One runner, however, wanted to prove that it’s not impossible to experience Mirror’s Edge in real life, and they even attached a camera to their head to re-create the look of the game (seen above). You can see the insane results below.

Jim Lee Weighs In On DC’s Controversial ‘Harley Quinn’ Artist Tryout Script

Harley Quinn #0 banner

Jim Lee, Co-Publisher of DC Comics, took to his Twitter tonight to publicly air his thoughts regarding the controversy surrounding the popular comics publisher’s current Open Talent Search artist contest, which was met with some backlash from those feeling that it was sexist and disrespectful to women.

The contest guidelines, which ran on DC’s website under the headline “Break into comics with Harley Quinn,” requires entrants to draw four panels featuring the DC female villain Harley Quinn attempting to commit suicide because of outlandish situations the DC writers put her in. The contest winner would then get to draw one page of DC’s Harley Quinn #0 by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner to be released this November.

DC’s panel descriptions, which include showing Harley Quinn naked in a bathtub surrounded by hanging electronics preparing to launch another suicide attempt, prompted public outcry accusing DC of being sexist towards women and insensitive about suicide (you can read of this over at The Daily Dot). The general interest women’s website Jezebel, which is part of Gawker Media, felt that DC’s contest was “disturbing” and “showcases DC’s blatant disregard for women.” This issue comes on the heels of another recent controversy for the publisher, who were accused of being homophobic for not letting Batwoman marry her same-sex partner, which prompted Batwoman‘s creative team of J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman to leave the title.

Since Twitter is not exactly the premiere platform for discussing delicate, polarizing subjects, we’ve compiled all of Lee’s tweets and photos all together here below. The end includes the sneak peek of Superman Unchained that Lee sent as his final tweet.
